General Description
New York Edge is seeking a passionate, mission-driven leader to fill the role of Director of Student Supports. This full-time role will work under the direction of the Director of Community Engagement and will be responsible for helping students and families to remove or manage barriers that negatively impact their academic, social, and emotional success by developing, coordinating and delivering a variety of student support services, partnerships, resources and professional development opportunities.
Primary duties and responsibilities:
Work with program leaders to establish standardized systems, processes and language related to the delivery of student supports across a portfolio of programs.
Monitor and evaluate the effective delivery of student support services.
Design, coordinate and facilitate professional development opportunities that increase staff members' capacity to meet the various needs of students, families and communities; ex. home visits, restorative practices, trauma informed practices, conflict resolution
Coordinate and facilitate workshops for students & families; ex. healthy relationships, conflict resolution, peer mediation
Cultiv ate a network of student support resources and partners that will enhance New York Edge's ability to meet the wellness and social-emotional learning needs of students and families.
Responsible for monitoring and evaluating the effectiveness of student support partners, including subcontractors.
Gather and assess data to evaluate student support services outcomes.
Work with program leaders to identify student and family needs that exist within NYE's catchment areas.
Maintain appropriate confidentiality of client's information and records.
Coordinate, plan, and execute Community Resource events for all stakeholders.
Attend regularly scheduled meetings as assigned.
Education Requirement:
Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Psychology, Public Health or a related field
Experience Requirement:
Experience developing student support strategies such as social-emotional learning, restorative practices, PBIS systems, etc.
Experience coordinating or facilitating workshops on topics such as conflict resolution, restorative circles, etc.
Experience working with students who exhibit academic, social and emotional struggles, students with special needs, youth living in high poverty, and their families.
A thorough understanding of child development and behavior
Prior experience in school setting and interaction with staff, students and families
Minimum of two years of experience working in under-resourced communities within New York City
Commitment to continuous professional growth (e.g. professional development, formal education, professional literature)
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Ability to handle multiple projects, meet deadlines, manage priorities and workflow, while maintaining a positive, patient and calm demeanor, and establishing a positive team spirit with colleagues.
Excellent interpersonal, listening, and negotiating skills.
Ability to maintain positive relationships internally and externally with a diverse range of people and the ability to respond appropriately to sensitive and/or confidential information and requests.
Strong computer literacy with proficiency in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
Ability to work some evenings and weekends.
Bilingual, English/Spanish skills strongly preferred.
Work Environment and Physical Demands:
Work is performed in office environments, in school environments, as well as in many different settings throughout the five boroughs.
May be required to lift up to 30 lbs.
Work hours will be consistent Monday through Friday with potential for some weekend or evening scheduled activities or events.
Salary:
$60,000-$65,000
