Job Description
The Department of Computational, Engineering, and Mathematical Sciences at Texas A&M University-San Antonio (A&M-SA) seeks applicants, with a passion for teaching, new program building, and scholarship, for a tenure-track Assistant or Associate Professor position in Electronic Systems Engineering Technology (ESET). Excellence in teaching at all levels of the curriculum, participation in grant funded research projects, and ability to collaborate with colleagues on curricular and programmatic issues is expected. Applicants should have a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering Technology, Electrical Engineering, or a closely related field with specialty in Embedded System Design, Embedded Systems for Cyber-Physical Systems, Wireless Communications and Networking, Signal Processing and Communications, or Bioelectronics and Biomedical Engineering. Faculty rank will be at the level of Assistant or Associate Professor depending on qualifications and experience. The base teaching load at A&M-SA for Assistant and Associate Professors is 3/3. Summer teaching assignments may be available but are not guaranteed. Service to the department, college, university, and the community is expected.
The Department provides a rich educational experience for students interested in computing, cybersecurity, engineering technology, and mathematics. We offer bachelor's degree programs in these disciplines as also support courses in physics for STEM majors. In addition, we offer two master's degree programs, one each in Computer Science and Cybersecurity. Our students experience small class environments in high-tech classrooms. We emphasize hands-on experiential learning and critical thinking, and the participation of students in industry internships and research under our faculty's mentorship.
Responsibilities:
Develop and teach undergraduate courses in ESET and mentor students
Collaborate in developing new engineering degree programs that leverage current programs in ESET, Cyber Engineering Technology, Computer Science, and Cybersecurity
Contribute to impactful research in engineering and technology
Connect with industry to develop and grow programs related to engineering and technology
Contribute to the service mission of the university
Required Education and Experience:
Ph.D. from a regionally accredited institution in Electrical Engineering Technology, Electrical Engineering, or a closely related field with specialty in one of these areas: Embedded System Design, Embedded Cyber-Physical Systems, Wireless Communications and Networking, Signal Processing and Communications, Bioelectronics and Biomedical Engineering
Experience in teaching at the university level (experience as teaching assistant acceptable)
Record of peer reviewed scholarly work
Excellent skills in interaction and communication with students, faculty, and staff
?Preferred Education and Experience:
Industry experience
Experience with grant proposal writing
Knowledge in ABET accreditation, preferably experience in participating in ABET application, assessment, or reporting.
Salary: Commensurate with experience and qualifications.
