Job Summary
Battelle’s Cyber business line is seeking a mid-level Systems Engineer with experience in model-based systems engineering practices. This position is contingent on program award.

As a System Engineer III you will work with solution architects and system designers within Battelle’s Cyber business area to understand customer needs and design novel solutions for modeling security of embedded systems and hardware design processes. The position location is at our Columbus, OH office with flexibility to work from our Dayton, OH or Chantilly, VA offices.
Responsibilities
- Design and maintain requirements, architectures, and system designs for complex technical systems.
- Extend existing system designs to fit new use cases and new requirements specifications.
- Support development of model-based systems engineering (MBSE) artifacts across a portfolio of products and applications
- Expand, elaborate, and own key system design elements and associated systems engineering products that drive customer success.
- Work with cross-functional teams to define system functions, requirements, and design elements to ensure optimal performance in constrained technical environments.
- Decompose complex designs into understandable components for further elaboration and development.
- Support execution of the full project lifecycle, from planning, through implementation, to operational readiness.
Key Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in related field with +5 years of experience; or master’s degree in related field with +2 years of experience
- Strong background in model-based systems engineering
- Experience in SysML diagramming tools (Cameo System Modeler, IBM Rhapsody, etc.)
- Experience leading technical system design discussions with internal and external stakeholders
- Experience creating and maintaining requirements baselines for project execution through the full product lifecycle.
- Experience creating system of systems functional decomposition documents, interface control documents (ICDs) and describing requirements to external performers/stakeholders.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- US Citizen with the willingness to obtain DOD security clearance
Preferred Qualifications
- +2 years of experience in model-based systems engineering
- Experience with SysML Modeling Language
- Experience with DOD Architecture Framework (DoDAF) and/or Unified Architectural Framework (UAF)
- Experience on DoD program
- Experience with MATLAB, Python, C++, or other object-oriented programming languages
- Experience working with Embedded Systems
- Experience with Microelectronics, FPGA, and/or Circuit Card Design
- Active Secret or Top-Secret Clearance
