Job Description:
Manages all phases of a Business Information Modelling (BIM) and Geographic Information Systems (GIS) program in a multi-department environment. The incumbent applies proficient knowledge of BIM and GIS packages, theory, mapping, programming, database, and principles of BIM and GIS to new applications. Supervises and mentors all GIS personnel involved in the collection, analysis, and dissemination of geospatial data in the formats of maps, graphics, reports, databases and tables. Willingness to travel and/or relocate to field site is expected.
What You’ll be Doing:
- Establishes, implements and reviews policies, procedures and plans based on the industrial level standards and guidelines/ requirements of the client.
- Utilizes technical manuals and directives to ensure compliance with company policies.
- Develops detailed work plans and schedules for all phases of a BIM / GIS project. Helps to define scope of work, schedule, and procedures for project assignments.
- Determines and monitors work scopes, schedules, budgets and requirements.
- Works with Information Services to monitor system hardware performance in order to maximize efficiency of equipment and software, Recommends hardware and software requirements.
- Oversees collection of field data required for project and screens available data for relevance and applicability.
- Oversees the design of) BIM / GIS, database, and analytical processes. May include system development (e.g., tailoring hardware, software, and data configurations to meet project needs).
- Oversees design and development of) BIM / GIS automation processes for internal use. Modifies application code to customize automation processes.
- Utilizes various spatial analysis methods (interpolation, modeling, etc.) to depict patterns and trends of geographic data.
- Integrates hardware, software, and data. Assesses precision and accuracy of GIS data; makes decisions regarding relevance to projects. May integrate non-BIM and GIS data with BIM and GIS applications, as appropriate.
- Troubleshoots complex hardware and software problems, and develops suitable workarounds.
- Performs quality assurance on BIM and GIS deliverables, BIM / GIS processing, and execution of tasks by subordinates.
- Evaluates commercial BIM / GIS applications, and designs and develops difficult and complex GIS applications for internal use and client deliverables. Communicates with internal and external clients to understand the business requirements and translate them into workable BIM/GIS technical solutions.
What Required Skills You’ll Bring:
- Bachelor's Degree in Geosciences, Geography, Planning, Engineering, Computer Science or related curriculum (or equivalent)
- 15+ years of related experience, including 5+ years in a management role required Extensive knowledge of starting, managing and growing a BIM/GIS program, as well as extensive knowledge of BIM/GIS and database standards, practices and procedures required. Masters degree preferred.
