Lockwood Hills is looking for an Operations Research Scientist to work collaboratively as part of the diversified Advanced Distributed Learning (ADL) Initiative team. The Operations Research Scientist plays a critical role within the Human Centered Design (HCD) team with responsibilities across all aspects of the cloud-based product development lifecycle including managing requirements, designing, developing, and testing digital solutions supporting military and civilian workforces interfacing with DoD enterprise applications.
The Operations Research Scientist, serving as an integral member of the Human Centered Design team, specializes in learning science related research and product testing of cloud-based learning ecosystems. The position requires extensive collaboration with cross-functional teams to create and manage scalable, secure, and efficient applications for DoD training partners and educational institutions. The HCD team provides expertise in areas of human centered user interface/user experience (UI/UX) design, capabilities-based test and evaluation, learning engineering, learning science and data science. Responsibilities
Conducts research supporting the modernization of learning ecosystems - the technological infrastructure required to support the delivery of digital learning - and the optimization of learner data usage across the enterprise
Supports the planning, design and conduct of learning system design research, as well as impact studies focused on stakeholder key performance measures, i.e., assessing the impact of the learning system design on organizational outcomes
Performs applied research and research-to-practice translation of learning science
Writes test or experimental plans, execute evaluations and prepare reports, summaries, and charts that interpret test results
Advises on training/education evaluations
Communicates scientific and technical information through oral briefings and written documents
Collaborates with HCD and Engineering team members, as well as external vendors in defining and sharing requirements
Qualifications
U.S. Citizen
Able to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance
Master's or Ph.D. degree in Operations Research, Industrial Engineering, Industrial / Organizational Psychology or a related field
3 years exp plus Bachelor's degree in related area OR
2 years exp plus advanced degree in related area
Familiarity with IEEE data standards such as: IEEE P9274.1 Experience API (xAPI) 2.0; P2881 Standard for Learning Metadata; IEEE 1484.20.3 Sharable Competency Definitions; IEEE 2997 standard for Learner Records
Familiarity with cloud platforms, particularly Amazon Web Services (AWS).
Has knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures within Human Centered Design
Uses best practices and knowledge of internal or external business issues to improve products/services or processes
Contributes to process improvements
Demonstrates ownership of work tasks
Typically resolves complex problems or problems where precedent may not exist
Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
Works independently with minimal guidance, however, communicates key information with manager and team
