Mission Support and Test Services, LLC (MSTS) manages and operates the Nevada National Security Site (NNSS) for the U.S. National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA). Responsibilities
MSTS is seeking a candidate for the role ofBusiness Assistant IIfor the Global Mission Communications Programs (GMCP), Emergency Communications Network (ECN) Program. The ECN provides global communications on behalf of DOE/NNSA using mobile technology, to include satellites and additional services such as video-teleconferencing. This position is located at the Remote Sensing Laboratory, Nellis (RSLN) on Nellis Air Force Base in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Key Responsibilities
Perform various administrative, clerical, and/or operations support duties and responsibilities with relatively broad scope in one or more of the following areas: emergency services support, emergency operations support, security, procurement, property, logistics, and training.
Interface with outside agencies including planning, operations support, and development of analysis for after action/lessons learned documentation and implementation as requested.
Perform data entry using standard document management programs to register documents, maintain databases, and produce logs, transmittals, and other reports. Enter data and produce reports using other standard office automation or department-specific computer applications.
Establish and maintain electronic or paper, as appropriate, filing system and record copies of project or departmental documents, such as engineering design, procurement and supplier documents, manuals and procedures, communications, correspondence, material requisitions, or any other department-specific materials.
Assemble information, such as status reports, for supervisor and other organizational unit or project personnel as requested.
Develop written desk procedures. May train others in project/organizational procedures, including use of automated tools.
Under general direction, set priorities for self in doing work and manage time ensure that deadlines and objectives are met.
Assist in developing, establishing, and implementing administrative, clerical, and operational procedures for assigned responsibilities.
May process time and/or expense records, assisting with system administration.
Schedule meetings and coordinate requests for equipment/materials and VTC support.
Prepare paperwork and help coordinate services for activities such as project or department moves.
Extract data and assemble information for technical analysis, make routine calculations as directed and perform mathematical computations for various reports.
Assist organizational unit with compilation and representation of data for cost comparisons, studies, forecasts, estimates, etc.
Resolve minor software/hardware related computer problems within group, maintaining security and other database tables as needed. May act as project/department system administrator.
Keep abreast of department technologies, techniques, and services relevant to area of responsibility. Make recommendations for work process improvements, procedures, and practices.
Perform administrative duties to aid in various phases of daily activities, such as composing correspondence, gathering/analyzing data for reports, and coordinating project or organizational unit activities and requirements with appropriate support groups.
May publish and distribute department bulletins.
May order project or department supplies and maintain supply cabinet.
May prepare routine documents, using standard word processing, spreadsheet, or other office software, as needed, to support work activities.
May maintain and track personnel-related information.
May participate in deployment activities as part of multi-agency team.
May assist with operational planning formulation and presentation material preparation.
May serve as an emergency responder as job dictates.
Perform other duties assigned by Management.
Qualifications
High School diploma or equivalent, and at least one year of related experience.
Able to use personal computer, printers, copiers, telephones, fax machines, calculators, and other general office equipment.
Able to follow oral and written instruction and follow through on all assignments.
Able to apply knowledge and experience in interpreting data and performing work where established procedures may not be specific, using some creativity and initiative.
Able to plan/organize work to complete in the most efficient manner and meet required deadlines.
Able to deal with pressure of handling multiple tasks, complaints, frequent interruptions, and time constraints.
Knowledge of basic math, grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
Primary work location is the Remote Sensing Laboratory, Nellis (RSLN) on Nellis Air Force Base in Las Vegas, NV.
Work schedule for this position will either be 4/10's, 9/80, or 5/8's (per management discretion). Must be willing to perform on-call duty and ensure availability to work non-standard hours.
Pre-placement physical examination, which includes a drug screen, is required. MSTS maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing.
Must possess a valid driver's license.
MSTS is required by DOE directive to conduct a pre-employment drug test and background review that includes checks of personal references, credit, law enforcement records, and employment/education verifications. Applicants offered employment with MSTS are also subject to a federal background investigation to meet the requirements for access to classified information or matter if the duties of the position require a DOE security clearance. Substance abuse or illegal drug use, falsification of information, criminal activity, serious misconduct or other indicators of untrustworthiness can cause a clearance to be denied or terminated by DOE, resulting in the inability to perform the duties assigned and subsequent termination of employment. In addition, Applicants for employment must be able to obtain and maintain a DOE Q-level security clearance, which requires U.S. citizenship, at least 18 years of age. Department of Energy Q Clearance (position will be cleared to this level). Reviews and tests for the absence of any illegal drug as defined in10 CFR Part 707.4 (http://www.ecfr.gov/cgi-bin/text-idx?SID=14b1c770db022992d237769fbe9fc519&mc=true&node=se10.4.707 14&rgn=div8) , "Workplace Substance Abuse Programs at DOE Sites," will be conducted. Hourly salary range for this position is:$20.30 - $30.45.
Starting salary is determined based on the position market value, the individual candidate education and experience and internal equity.
