The Department of Modern Languages and Literatures at Johns Hopkins University seeks to hire a tenure-track, assistant professor in the field of Medieval Jewish Literature and Thought in the Islamic World. Applicants must have a strong command of medieval Hebrew and Arabic and be versed in the philology, aesthetics, and history of both languages and literary traditions. Knowledge of additional relevant languages (Aramaic, Persian, Latin) will be considered an asset. The Department is committed to conducting a globally broad and inclusive search for candidates who, through their research, teaching, and service, will contribute to the excellence of our academic community. The successful candidate will supervise doctoral research and offer courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels.
A Ph.D. is required, but we will accept applications from doctoral students expected to fulfill their Ph.D. degree requirements by July 1, 2025.
