Job Description:
The Head of FCRM Model Management and Emerging Risk is a technical and strategic leader in the Modeling & Advanced Analytics team in Financial Crime Risk Management (FCRM). This role is responsible for developing a model and technology roadmap/strategy covering the full development lifecycle of Transaction Monitoring systems. This role will closely monitor emerging financial crime patterns and typologies and leverage data analytics and models to detect, prevent, and mitigate FCRM and sanctions risks.
Depth & Scope:
Provides people management leadership by hiring the best talent, setting goals, developing staff, managing employee performance and compensation decisions, promoting teamwork and handling any/all disciplinary actions, as required
Develops data-driven capabilities and strategies to identify emerging financial crime risks and evolving criminal typologies and deliver actionable risk intelligence and insights to mitigate risks
Leads the management of various vendor and in-house models and systems across the customer lifecycle and lines of business, ensuring performance, compliance, and risk mitigation
Leads a team of FCRM professionals and data scientists, fostering a mindset of curiosity and critical thinking
Presents findings, highlights de-risking opportunities and identifies risk mitigation and program enhancement opportunities to FCRM colleagues, stakeholders, and senior management
Through the normal course of executing responsibilities, identifies and escalates potential risks requiring further investigation and analysis to FCRM Operations, and identifies opportunities to improve and/or expand the Bank's FCRM monitoring and reporting controls and processes
Works with the FCRM Advisory teams to provide financial crime compliance risk insights to FCRM and business colleagues, including on existing and new business initiatives, new products, and business acquisitions
Education & Experience:
Bachelor's degree required
15+ years of relevant industry experience and proven leadership roles in AML, model management, or risk management
Significant exposure to common Transaction Monitoring systems (Actimize, SAS, Oracle, etc.)
Deep knowledge of financial crime typologies, red flags, and AML regulations in the US
Knowledge and appreciation of the key concepts associated with risk management including inherent risks, controls and residual risk
Solid analytical and modeling skills, along with strategic thinking and business acumen
Strong communication, presentation, and active listening skills with the ability to build relationships across all organizational levels
Experience creating documentation that meets regulatory and audit standards
