The Opportunity:
The CACI team is looking to add a Senior Data Scientist to their growing software development contract with the Department of State in Rosslyn, VA. The role will support complex and scalable data analytic service and data lake projects that provide business intelligence, analysis, and dashboard reporting to our customer's mission. The Senior Data Scientist will work with stakeholders to leverage data to drive business value. In addition, you will work with user identity log data to create sophisticated data visualizations that detect suspicious behavior. You will play a crucial role in enhancing our client's cybersecurity efforts by leveraging advanced analytics and machine learning techniques to identify potential threats and anomalies in user behavior.
Responsibilities:
Process and clean large volumes of user identity log data from various sources
Conduct exploratory data analysis to uncover patterns, trends, and anomalies in user behavior
Perform feature engineering to extract relevant indicators of suspicious activity
Design and implement advanced data visualizations that effectively highlight potential security threats
Develop interactive dashboards for real-time monitoring of user activity and potential security breaches
Apply statistical analysis techniques to establish baselines and thresholds for normal user behavior
Develop and implement anomaly detection algorithms to identify unusual patterns in user activity
Collaborate closely with cybersecurity teams to refine and improve detection criteria and methodologies
Produce regular reports on identified suspicious activities, trends, and potential security risks
Continuously improve visualization techniques and detection methods to stay ahead of evolving security threats
Present findings and recommendations to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
Utilize Azure services, data lakes, and PySpark for efficient data processing and analysis
Create compelling visualizations and reports using PowerBI and Tableau
Required Qualifications:
Master's degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, or a related field
5+ years of experience in data science, with a focus on security analytics or anomaly detection
Strong programming skills in Python, with proficiency in PySpark
Expertise in data visualization tools, specifically PowerBI and Tableau
Experience with Azure cloud services and working with data lakes
Proficiency in SQL and experience working with large-scale databases
Solid understanding of machine learning algorithms, particularly in anomaly detection and classification
Experience with big data technologies (e.g., Hadoop, Spark)
Knowledge of cybersecurity concepts and common attack vectors
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
Strong communication skills, with the ability to present complex findings to diverse audiences
Must have an active Secret clearance
Desired Qualifications:
PhD in a relevant field
Experience working with user identity management systems and related log data
Familiarity with SIEM (Security Information and Event Management) systems
Advanced knowledge of Azure services related to data processing and security
Experience with real-time data processing and streaming analytics
Contributions to open-source projects or research publications in relevant fields
Certifications in data science, machine learning, or cybersecurity (e.g., CISSP, CEH)
Experience with data governance and compliance in cloud environment

The proposed salary range for this position is:
$119,800 - $263,600
