Principal Structural Bridge Engineer - California High Speed Rail – Fresno, California or Virtual Based
POSITION OVERVIEW:
- Looking for a role where your structural engineering design experience will make an immediate impact on construction? The CA High Speed Rail – CP1 Project is a large-scale design-build project in Fresno, CA with on-going design and construction work. We are seeking to hire a full-time Principal Structural Engineer that will support the Engineering Services During Construction (ESDC) effort for our Fresno, CA office. This role is ideal for a structural engineer that wants to work with the construction team as they build the project. Daily tasks will allow construction to proceed, resolve field issues, and coordinate with design team. This role supports projects primarily for our Fresno, California office, but can be virtually based anywhere in the USA, California or US West region preferred. Occasional travel to the Fresno office for meetings will be required.
Specific Responsibilities:
- Review supplier product drawing submittals and construction shop drawings.
- Review construction submittals and process through ESDC process
- Engineer solutions to resolve Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) for field issues
- Coordinate with design engineer-of-record regarding field Request for Information (RFI) responses
- Prepare construction as-builts
- Performs moderate to often complex engineering tasks and particularly important engineering work efficiently and accurately.
- Extracts engineering information from CAD drawings.
- Prepares engineering computations, material quantity takeoffs, estimates, surveys, and designs.
- Completes a variety of assignments such as drawings, specifications, and other materials suitable for construction purposes.
- Frequently interfaces with other Engineering disciplines as well as construction team.
- Prepares and issues specifications, data sheets, and other construction documents.
- Provides technical design support to CAD Designer/Drafters, Designers, and other more junior level Engineers working on the same project.
Requirements :
- 4-year degree in Civil or Structural Engineering and 10 years or more of related work experience is required
- Experience with structural steel and /or reinforced concrete on projects is essential
- Experience supporting rail and transit projects is desirable
- PE is required in any US State, with ability to obtain one in California.
- SE registration is a plus, but not required
Skllls / Competencies :
- Proficiency in utilizing CAD and other PC software packages typically associated with structural engineering is required.
- Familiarity with Caltrans standard plans, Caltrans bridge design manual and memo to designers is desirable
- Knowledge of reinforced concrete design, prestressed and post tensioned concrete design, and advanced steel design highly preferred

Salary Range:
