We are seeking a visionary Data Architect to play a pivotal role in building our new technology stack and designing innovative data products and solutions tailored for our Defense and US Intelligence clients. As a key member of our team, you will leverage modern data strategies, including data mesh and artificial intelligence, to create robust, scalable architectures that empower our clients to harness their data assets effectively. This role is instrumental in translating complex business needs into cutting-edge technical solutions, ensuring seamless data integration, optimal performance, and unwavering data integrity within our newly established tech ecosystem. Responsibilities: Tech Stack Development: Lead the design and implementation of our new technology stack, ensuring it aligns with modern data strategies and supports our mission in national security. Data Product Design: Develop and design innovative data products and solutions tailored to the unique needs of our Defense and US Intelligence clients. Strategic Collaboration: Partner with senior management, stakeholders, and cross-functional teams to understand evolving business requirements and strategic objectives in a transitioning organizational environment. Modern Data Architecture: Implement flexible, high-performance data architectures incorporating data mesh principles to support decentralized data ownership and domain-oriented data management. AI Integration: Integrate artificial intelligence and machine learning capabilities into data architectures to enhance data analytics, predictive modeling, and decision-making processes. Data Lifecycle Management: Oversee the entire data lifecycle, from requirements gathering and design to development, testing, deployment, and ongoing optimization. System Integration: Ensure seamless integration of new data solutions with existing systems and infrastructure, leveraging APIs and microservices where appropriate. Technical Leadership: Provide technical leadership and mentorship to data engineering teams, fostering a culture of innovation, continuous improvement, and excellence. Architecture Review & Optimization: Conduct regular reviews of existing data architectures, identifying opportunities for optimization, modernization, and adoption of emerging technologies. Emerging Technologies: Stay at the forefront of data management and architecture trends, continuously exploring and evaluating emerging technologies, tools, and best practices. Documentation & Standards: Document data development processes, standards, and best practices, promoting knowledge sharing and organizational efficiency. Required Qualifications: 10+ years in data engineering, data governance, data analyst, or related roles. 5+ years of hands-on experience in data architecture and management, including designing and implementing production data architectures. Proficiency in data modeling, database design, and data warehousing. Deep understanding of data security, data governance, and data quality principles. Strong knowledge of cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure) and cloud-native data services. Experience integrating AI and machine learning frameworks into data architectures. Experience in building and scaling new technology stacks from the ground up. Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders. Adaptability and resilience in a dynamic, transitioning organizational environment. Desired Qualifications: Familiarity with big data technologies (e.g. Spark, Kafka, BigQuery, NoSQL databases). Experience with enterprise architecture frameworks (DoDAF, TOGAF, Zachman). Working knowledge of data mesh principles and associated technical applications. Experience with AI/ML platforms and tools (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch, Azure ML). Proven track record in designing and deploying data products and customer-focused solutions. Experience with cloud-native architectures and services that support scalable and resilient data solutions. Certifications: DAMA CDMP; Cloud Data/Architect Certs (AWS, Azure, GCP SA/PCA/DE etc.); Agile (SAFe, ACP, CSM). Industry Experience: Success in past roles in the Defense, Intelligence, or related sectors is highly desirable. Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Management, or a related field. Advanced degrees (Master’s or Ph.D.) are a plus, particularly those focusing on data science, architecture, or related disciplines. Security Clearance: Must be a US Citizen. No clearance required at the time of hiring, but Secret or higher clearance is preferred or the ability to obtain one. The salary range for this role is 130,000 USD - 272,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
