Nightwing is supporting a U.S. Government customer to obtain development, operations and maintenance (O&M), logistics, security and deployment support services necessary to operate and sustain the customer’s Lab environments. Activities must be carried out at the highest levels of service and availability. Nightwing is seeking a Linux administrator with some cloud experience to support this effort. This is a hybrid role requiring candidate to be on site one day a week. Responsibilities Include: System Administration: Oversee the day-to-day operations of the customer’s lab environments including installation, configuration, and maintenance of Linux operating systems (e.g., CentOS, Ubuntu, Red Hat). Performance Monitoring and Optimization: Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and optimize system resources to ensure maximum uptime and efficiency. Implement proactive measures to identify and address potential bottlenecks or performance degradation. Security Management: Implement and maintain security measures to protect systems from vulnerabilities, unauthorized access, and malware threats. Backup and Disaster Recovery: Develop and maintain backup and disaster recovery plans for Linux systems. Patch Management: Manage the patching process for Linux servers, including scheduling, testing, and deploying software updates and security patches in a timely manner. Ensure compliance with patch management policies and procedures. Automation and Scripting: Develop automation scripts and tools using shell scripting (e.g., Bash), Python, or other scripting languages to streamline system administration tasks, automate repetitive processes, and improve operational efficiency. Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams including key stakeholders to support project initiatives and resolve technical issues. Documentation: Document system configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps for knowledge sharing and training purposes. Technical Support: Provide technical support and troubleshooting assistance to internal users and teams regarding Linux-related issues. Diagnose problems and implement solutions in a timely manner to minimize downtime and disruptions. Required Skills: U.S. Citizenship Must be able to obtain DHS Suitability Must have a active Secret clearance and obtain a TS/SCI clearance 8+ years of directly relevant experience in Linux System Administrator. Proficiency in managing and maintaining Linux servers (e.g., Red Hat, CentOS, Ubuntu). Strong understanding of Linux file systems, permissions, and security. Hands-on experience with AWS services such as EC2, S3, RDS, VPC, IAM, CloudFormation, and Lambda. Knowledge of networking concepts and protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, VPN, etc.). Experience with network troubleshooting and security (firewalls, security groups, NACLs). Desired Skills: Experience with shell scripting (Bash, Python, etc.) for automation and task management. Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Knowledge of U.S. Government IA policies, procedures, standards, guidelines, and objectives. Required Education Six (8) or more years of direct experience Bachelor’s degree in Information Security, Cyber Engineering or a related discipline is required. The salary range for this role is 105,000 USD - 221,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
