The Role: We’re in the midst of a data transformation, embracing a hybrid data mesh paradigm that emphasizes domain-driven design, federated computational governance, and data democratization. As a Data Governance Specialist, you will be working with the Data Governance Lead to execute the data governance strategy, ensuring compliance, data quality, and security across our data landscape. You'll work closely with stakeholders across the organization to define data ownership, policies, and best practices, all while enabling seamless access to trusted, high-quality data. Responsibilities: Engages with domain teams to spark innovative use cases for data and AI. Develops and mature data governance policies, processes and procedures for guidance. Reviews and adapts operating procedures to ensure effectiveness. Coordinates the development and implementation of privacy, compliance and access policies that align with business goals and legal requirements. Partner with legal and cybersecurity teams to ensure data access, privacy and security policies are aligned with governance protocols. Facilitates the onboarding and certification of new domain teams and members, as needed. Ensure teams have leverage existing governance templates, methods and materials. Develop and deliver tailored communications and data governance training, workshops and ad-hoc sessions to promote best practices across the organization and enhance data literacy. Guides domain teams in creating data products that are shareable across the organization using data governance tools, e.g., Collibra or Alation. Monitor and audit data access, data usage, and adherence to governance policies, providing actionable insights Drives continuous improvement with domain teams using data governance tools, processes and best practices. Act as a liaison between business units and IT to resolve data governance issues and improve data handling practices across the enterprise. Qualifications: 3+ years of experience in data governance, data management, or related roles. Working knowledge of data governance frameworks, data quality standards, and best practices for managing enterprise data assets. Experience with governance tools (Collibra, Alation, or similar) and familiarity with metadata management, discovery, and data lineage solutions. Understanding of data privacy laws and regulatory frameworks (GDPR, CCPA, etc.), as well as data security principles. Experience in executing the data stewardship and data ownership programs. Familiarity with AWS cloud environments and hybrid data ecosystems. Excellent organizational, communication, and project management skills, with the ability to work cross-functionally and influence without direct authority. Preferred Skills: Experience implementing governance and processes in a data mesh environment or distributed data architecture. Familiarity with SnapLogic, Workday, Deltek, Salesforce, or similar COTS products integrated within a governed data landscape. Experience with PowerBI or Tableau for governance and reporting purposes. Exposure to cybersecurity, particularly in relation to data protection and governance. Exposure to Agile methodologies and experience in collaborative, fast-paced environments. Education: Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Data Management, or a related field. The salary range for this role is 85,000 USD - 179,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
