Office Minimum Requirements: Bachelor?s Degree or equivalent background
and experience. Complete fluency in a particular language
(Spanish/Vietnamese/Russian/other). Experience either in a broad medical
field or completion of a medical translation training program. High
level of oral and written communication skills in
Spanish/Vietnamese/Russian/other and English; ability to prepare
effective reports and recommendations. Ability to make effective
presentations to large groups of people. Must possess the ability to
positively interact with patients, personnel, visitors, and the general
public. Must show discretion in the handling of confidential
information. Must possess the ability to work independently, problem
solve, and make decisions when necessary. Strong organizational skills
Ability to use a computer to track client flow, word processes, and
schedule patients. Friendly, reliable, and professional both in behavior
and appearance. Ability to establish and maintain effective working
relationships with other employees, individuals seeking assistance, and
the general public. Principle Responsibilities and Duties: Assist in
translation and the coordination of services for
Spanish/Vietnamese/Russian/other-speaking patients. This includes
translating on-site during the clinic visit; assisting
Spanish/Vietnamese/Russian/other-speaking patients in the completion of
clinic-related paperwork; and notifying patients on behalf of the
physician. Assist in community health education and health center
outreach to the Spanish/Vietnamese/Russian/other communities. This
includes representing the Health Center at events in the
Spanish/Vietnamese/Russian/other communities; producing and distributing
promotional materials for the Health Center in these communities;
developing and planning health education activities for speakers and
coordinating relationships between the Health Center and the
Spanish/Vietnamese/Russian/other community organizations. Coordinate the
Massachusetts Department of Public Health Refugee Assessment Handbook,
coordination includes acting as liaison with the local
Spanish/Vietnamese/Russian/other people, scheduling refugee visits,
coordinating refugee visits at the Health Center, completing financial
and administrative paperwork associated with the visit, and assisting
the refugees in becoming formal CHC patients. Work on the Patient
Outreach and Transportation Services Project funded under the Community
Development Department of the City of Springfield. Translation of
written materials. The translator will translate administrative and
health education materials from English to
Spanish/Vietnamese/Russian/other on an as-needed basis and generate
documents on the computer. Participate in meetings and staff training
related to patient services, front office coordination, cultural
competency, and community relations. Perform paperwork associated with
demographic tracking, billing, or general clinic. This position also
requires the ability to use a computer, work at a computer workstation,
view a CRT, and have some knowledge of a keyboard. From time to time,
this position requires the ability to work long and arduous hours.
