Job Description
Teledyne Controls LLC is seeking a Sales Director for the Military/Government sector, to join our Aerospace Electronics Division's customer-interfacing team. In this role, the Sales Director will drive order generation of Teledyne Controls product lines and Software as a Service solutions to existing as well as new and prospective Military/Government customers *. * The successful candidate will have responsibility for managing relevant customer relationships and general account management activities, while executing all aspects of large complex avionics sales programs and capturing new business opportunities. Summary
The Sales Director will be responsible for developing, negotiating, and maintaining relationships with existing military and defense customers. They will also oversee direct sales development activities for new business opportunities with both domestic and foreign government agencies. The Sales Director will use various sales techniques to develop and implement strategies that ensure business growth.
Additionally, the Sales Director will develop new prospects and interact with existing customers to increase sales of the organization's products and services. They will work with customers to identify their needs, create solutions, and ensure a smooth sales process. This role requires a high degree of creativity and latitude. They may also assume a team lead role within their work group. Expertise in complex technical and business matters is desired. The Sales Director normally receives little instruction on day-to-day tasks and general instructions on new assignments.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Serve as the face of Teledyne to the customer, and the voice of the customer internally within Teledyne.
Promote Teledyne Controls avionics products and services to military and government end users.
Generate sufficient order intakes in the short - medium term to meet or exceed the defined financial objectives for the Military/Government Sector and the company.
Create and maintain Account Development and Capture Plans for key opportunities and establish new accounts.
Manage portfolio of accounts, interfacing with customers at all levels. Identify champions and mobilizers to .
Attend and Support key industry and trade events and trade shows. Represents our company at key industry events.
Lead contract and pricing negotiations and administer customer contract requirements.
Prepare proposal submission documents to include capability assessments, applicable representations and certifications, or other specific documentation required.
Create and present winning proposals to customers directly. Be able to present our solution to all levels of the organization.
Educate our customers on Teledyne solutions and help build solid business cases.
Capture and share competitor intelligence as well as feedback on our solutions from technical, commercial, and support perspectives.
Understand Government funding process and include in the strategic approach to the bid process.
Gather current marketplace information on newly introduced products,
Investigate problems; prepare reports; develop solutions and make recommendations to management in order to resolve customer complaints.
Attend educational workshops; review publications and be involved in professional societies.
Provide historical records by keeping records on customer inquiries and sales activities.
Contribute to team efforts in accomplishing organizational goals.
Develop valuable relationships with stakeholders within the U.S. Military and government markets, serving as primary interface to military/government procurement agencies.
Collaborate with Teledyne support teams to develop and implement customer programs and contracts.
Develop strategies, design ideas, and provide support to generate external sales opportunities and meet sales targets.
Serve as brand ambassador and represent Teledyne at industry meetings, trade shows, and during customer meetings.
Demonstrated leadership ability and business acumen.
Required Qualifications :
Bachelor's degree in business, marketing, technical or related discipline required. Advanced degree preferred.
Minimum 10 years of related experience selling or working with avionic programs for military/government accounts, commercial operators, business aviation, OEM's, or integrators.
Working knowledge of complex avionics and aircraft systems.
Experience in U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) and foreign military procurement and sales.
Familiarity or experience with the U.S Armed Forces and Department of Defense (DoD) federal contractors and the aerospace, defense, or commercial aviation industry.
Strong sales and marketing skills in aerospace industry.
Strong negotiation and prospecting skills.
Strong relationship building skills to work with government agencies and customers.
Ability to develop networks and contacts to facilitate domestic and international military/government sales.
Ability to prepare and conduct presentations for senior management and other stakeholders.
Knowledgeable in project management and sales forecasting/planning.
Utilize Microsoft Teams, Salesforce.com CRM, Microsoft Office suite and other software tools to manage sales pipelines, forecast, and performance metrics.
Ability to plan and implement targeted marketing and sales campaigns.
Domestic and occasional international travel is required (up to 50% travel).
Must be a US Citizen with the ability to attain and maintain government security clearance.
Salary Range:
$118,800.00-$158,730.000
