Currently, ManTech is seeking a motivated, career and customer-oriented Mission Assurance - Systems Engineer III to join our team in Lompoc, CA.
Perform mission assurance and fleet surveillance duties in accordance with Space Launch Delta (SLD) 30 Mission Assurance and Launch Verification processes.
Responsibilities :
Assess the Launch Service Provider's (LSP) launch vehicle checkout and processing activities at the launch sites.
Monitor and assess configuration changes at applicable space launch complexes, as compared to the approved certification configuration baseline, and make recommendations to the USG.
Perform supporting functions to the launch site responsible engineer including assessing requirements, evaluating past procedures and documentation for current applicability, attending required meetings, assessing process verification, and developing independent risk assessments.
Provide USG representatives with recommendations for required Launch Verification Database (LVDB) updates, item closure and risk assessment functions, and applicable lessons learned.
Monitor and assess configuration changes to the Space Launch Complexes (SLC) operated by NSSL LSPs as compared to the approved certification configuration baseline and make recommendations to the USG.
Maintain and update launch site mission assurance documents such as operating instructions, plans, and CONOPS.
Review Launch and Range related SF guidance documents for technical validity and make recommendations for revisions to SLD 30 documents.
Assess the execution of the SLD 30 Launch Verification Processes and its consistency with overall NSSL Space Flight Worthiness Certification and Readiness Review processes and make recommendations for improvement.
Provide technical recommendations for and provide summary documentation of NSSL system Technical Interchange Meetings (TIMs)/TEMs/Reviews.
Capture and document best practices and provide training and certification support as directed.
Provide integrated assessments of LSP and DoD processes and media as requested to aid USG evaluation of cost, schedule, and performance risks and opportunities.
Capture existing SLD 30 processes, recommend enhancements, and collaborate as required to implement approved changes.
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical/Aerospace Engineering or Bachelor's Degree in STEM field
1.5 years DoD Launch/Range systems engineering or mechanical engineering experience accepted in lieu of each 1 year of degree because of proposed functions in launch site mission assurance and fleet surveillance requirements.
10 years as systems engineer, technical PM or other related areas with at least 5 years of NSSL, Launch/Range, DoD, or NASA engineering experience
Security Clearance Requirements:
U.S. Citizenship is required
Must have ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Clearance.
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50%.
Needs to occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.
Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine and computer printer.
Frequently communicates with co-workers, management and customers, which may involve delivering presentations. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
