Job Description:
Design and develop electrical systems for the integration of electronic equipment on military/commercial aircraft and ground stations. The design includes creating system wiring diagrams using the Capital Harness System tool as well as circuit breaker panels, control panels and other items using Computer Aided Design (CAD) tools. Engineer will be responsible for research, systems integration, preparation of engineering drawings, and coordination of design activities with Systems Engineering, Manufacturing, and Production to ensure that designs meet requirements at minimum cost. Engineer will also be responsible for leading and mentoring a team of 2 to 5 entry-level design engineers for the duration of an assigned project. Designs can include development of Avionics Systems, RF, LAN, Data Processing, Power Distribution Systems, Electrical Loads analysis, Load shedding scheme to name a few, along with the opportunity to support testing and integration of systems on the aircraft. Electrical design engineers have the opportunity to work on a wide variety of tasks and aircraft systems on various aircraft platforms.
Essential Functions:
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Create system wiring diagrams, circuit breaker panels, control panels and other items using CAD (Computer Aided Design) tools
Research and preparation of engineering drawings, and coordination of design activities with Systems Engineering, Manufacturing, and Production to ensure that designs meet requirements at minimum cost
Lead a small team of electrical design engineers to implement electronic subsystems by breaking down work packages, providing drawing status, and budget estimates to platform leads.
Train and mentor junior engineers
Learn and become familiar with L3Harris Technical Process Specifications and related design practices and methodologies
Qualifications:
Bachelor of Science or Masters of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, Computer Science degree or related technical degree at an accredited university
Minimum of 2 years of prior relevant experience with a Master's degree or 4+ years of applicable experience with a Bachelor degree
Good computer skills including working knowledge of Microsoft Office
Strong communication skills
Able to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance which require U.S. Citizenship
Must be able to travel to and from flight line and work in aircraft hangar environments (some positions will require the ability to board/exit aircraft)
Willingness to travel or relocate, if necessary
Position requires an active DoD Secret Security Clearance, the ability to maintain the stated clearance, which requires U.S. Citizenship.
Preferred Additional Skills:
Previous experience in the defense aerospace industry
CAD knowledge/skills
Knowledge of with CAD and PLM software, including NX and Teamcenter
Knowledge of Siemens Capital software
Understanding of basic aircraft systems
Systems integration experience
Leadership experience
