The Security Specialist has hands-on experience developing, implementing, and administering internal facility security functions including maintaining security systems and protocols. They will support and direct security measures in the goal of protecting our people, property, and information. The position will also provide security expertise, guidance and advice to management and staff. The Security Specialist must have security-related experience in support of corporate environments and possess a drive for optimal safety. They maintain security documents and manuals and the appropriate levels of physical controls to the facilities. In addition, they participate in security inspections and audits, manage access, and assist business units with events and personnel matters.
ACCOUNTABILITIES & ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Responds to alarms, alerts, and all emergencies - Oversees the day-to-day implementation of corporate security initiatives - Ensures that all security systems and devices (such as alarms, video, locks, and door hardware) are properly functional and requests services as needed - Oversees security device installations and repairs - Provides guidance and recommendations around site specific security concerns to Corporate Security Management and other teams - Administer local access control and badging systems, as well as local badge deployment - Assist with conducting investigations into basic security issues - Acts as "eyes and ears on the ground" for Corporate Security Management - Complies with post orders to ensure security posture of assigned site - Writes reports on daily security findings and incidents - Supports facilities and administrative staff with basic facilities needs - Stay current on best practices. - Prioritize emergency situations, daily responsibilities, and long-term projects - Able to think on their feet and make critical decisions in high pressure situations - Able to work independently with little on-site supervision - Good ability to communicate in written reports and via email - Good understanding of Corporate Security Procedures - Good understanding of Physical Security Devices - Able to partner with other departments and be a representative of Corporate Security and Facilities to local senior managers - Communicates with ease up and down chain of leadership and to all levels of the organization - Desire to grow and progress their career in the security industry - Professional with ability to properly handle confidential information - Ability to work well independently and in a team environment. - Ability to handle multiple tasks, prioritize and meet deadlines. - Must have ability to positively handle/manage stress, such as high work volume and frequent change - Understand de-escalation tactics and procedures and put into practice SKILLS & CERTIFICATIONS
Industry relevant certifications (ASIS PSP) a plus - Familiar with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Power Point) - Good written and verbal communication skills. - Able to achieve Confidential security clearance
Senior Security Specialist - Implement changes to Mouser's security platform to mitigate risks - Examine and evaluate physical security conditions and risks, make recommendations, and implement changes, improvements, or corrections - Collaborate with facilities, Information Systems, and vendors to implement changes to Mouser's security platform to mitigate risks - Coordinate emergency response and incident management functions. - Provide direction during all emergency events such as medical, fire, violence, and crisis. Collaborate with external emergency services and personnel - Deploy and assign contract security staffing coverage at multiple assigned locations. - Provide clear guidance and ensure established policies and protocols are followed - Research and investigate events or acts in violation of security and business protocols and submit findings - Manage internal physical security inspections and audits, ensuring compliance with security standards, contract mandates of government and other client physical security requirements and measures - Develop test plans to assess physical security measures by employing strategies to ensure comprehensive validation of physical security protection programs - Evaluate, design, and implement security and safety procedures to ensure a safe environment for the employees, visitors, guests and property of Mouser Electronics and its affiliates. - Familiarity with technical aspects of security systems and devices. - Team subject matter expert.
Requirements - Physical security systems technical and installation experience (badge/video) - PSP or other accredited security certifications. - Associate degree in Criminal Justice, Public Safety, or related field. Bachelor's degree preferred. - 3 years of emergency response and incident management experience, preferably within facility - 6+ years Sr Guard/Security Specialist III experience required. - Internal candidates: o Experience can be a combination of internal and external experience. o Minimum Highly Effective performance in current role. - Top Secret security clearance
