This position will Manage a global team of full-stack JAVA developers and QA professionals. As the Manager of Software Development you will be part of a collaborative team that is responsible for the full software development life cycle, from conception to deployment. The Manager of Software Development is a hands on technologist and people leader. You will work with Product and Infrastructure teams to define product strategy, set the technical road map, team priorities, work with client teams when necessary to customize software and suggest solutions and maintain quality and development standards and best practices. As a people leader you will provide guidance, development opportunities.
Essential Job Functions:
Provide direction and leadership to a team of global developers and QA professionals
Design, develop, document, test and debug new and existing software systems, applications and/or components for market sale or proprietary software
Working knowledge of multiple languages, software development environment, and software development life-cycle procedures including but not limited to: Java, C#, AWS, Azure, Oracle. Software development frameworks, API Integrations, RESTful Web services, Structured and unstructured databases, Eclipse, JEE, HTML, CSS, TypeScript, JavaScript frameworks (Angular, VUE, React)
Writes technical specifications based on conceptual design and stated business requirements
Responsible for following the team's established Agile processes which includes supporting both short- and long-term planning, cross-functional support, and demonstrating working software
Provide detailed metrics related to turn time, workload, Kickbacks (and reasons), test coverage
Designs and develops complex business processes, services, and integration with various end systems
Troubleshoot and solve difficult customer issues. Performs the most complex development, testing, and debugging tasks
Maintains knowledge of currently evolving platforms, programming languages, and web/database technologies
Stays up-to-date on business initiatives and objectives, particularly as these relate to infrastructure and development architecture issues
Serve as technical expert on development projects, participate in full development life cycle including requirements analysis, design, and deployments
Analyze large amount of activity data to drive the insight of user behavior and best way to identify relevant data and convert it into information aligned with business decision making
Think creatively to solve the user problem with holistic and simple product solution
Run experiments on new and existing features. Ability to learn new technologies and influence the team and leadership to constantly implement modern solutions
Research an area of knowledge and create a direction based upon sound architectural and design principles. Limit the choices available during development by choosing standard development methods and programming frameworks
Evaluates new platforms, technologies, and software products/techniques to determine feasibility and desirability of incorporating their capabilities within the company's products
Make design decisions which encourage leveragability, potential reuse, componentization, extensibility, maintainability, and are minimally coupled
Strategically align development capabilities with the future needs of our customers
Translates business requirements into technical solutions which adhere to architectural best practice
Provide solutions and alternatives to impasses impacting timetables, scalability, and performance factors as they pertain to production, implementation and to technologies advancements for SitusAMC
Identifies and evaluates new technologies for implementation
Analyzes code to find causes of errors and revise programs as needed
Leds in software design meetings and analyzes user needs to determine technical requirements.
For the SDLC/STLC, provide direction, assists in development of new models
Assist in the development and Maintenance of detailed software engineering and development plans and processes
Continually improve, design or synthesis processes and software that materially differentiates SitusAMC brand and services
Aspire to reach a higher level of CMMI and Agile practices; create repeatable process; ensure documentation is created, Maintained, trained upon, is readily accessible, versioned, and managed under change control
Oversight and guidance of new product initiatives ensuring adherence to architectural principles, drive engineering decision making based on sound business requirements; identify sources of technology improvement that can reduce development cost
Provide detailed metrics related to turn time, workload, Kickbacks (and reasons), test coverage
Contribute in efforts to develop technical roadmap of most projects
Create and document application platform architectural vision and strategy to maintain long term viability
Refactor the application code base to leverage new technologies
Ensure software satisfies all non-functional requirements such as quality, security, modifiable, stability, etc.
Defines system, technical, and application architectures
Recommends courses of action to maintain cost effectiveness and competitiveness
Ensures quality and consistency of the software architecture across the system and provides day-to-day technical guidance to the development teams
Researches and implements best practice frameworks/capability models that will control costs, provide higher quality, and/or increase predictability of service delivery
Consults with end user to prototype, refine, test, and debug programs to meet needs
Manage individual project priorities, deadlines, and deliverables
Build products aligned to help our clients succeed in the industry
Work in cross functional teams (Squads) to drive effective creation of Minimum Viable Products that bring business value faster
In conjunction with the business objectives and other, establish a clear vision; share that vision with others so that they will follow willingly. Provide the information, knowledge and methods realize that vision
Mentor and provide guidance and direction to all team members in the department
Fosters a culture of continuous improvement in all areas of technology and instill the principles of this mindset in a team
Manage and achieve personnel time commitments
Proactively reach out to others for assistance to ensure work is achieve in agreed upon timeframes
Be accountable for the overall productivity levels of your work, PODS, Teams and/or software development team
Oversee personnel in Leds, teams and PODs, including goal-setting, performance assessment, and performance development
Continuously evaluate development progress against plans and intervene with lead developers, project managers, or consult with management to facilitate business outcomes
Manage the delivery of software services internal and external
Manage, monitor, and evaluate completion of tasks, assignments, projects activities and timelines of in line with business priorities
Build quality assurance and data protection processes
Focus on leading, coaching, developing, and retaining high-performance team with an emphasis on developing capacity in areas of execution
Foster a culture of continuous improvement in all areas of technology and instill the principles of this mindset in a team
Identify necessary training and educating for developers on new techniques
Advise and mentor Software Development team members as an escalation point
Fulfill on the division's mission statement
Such other activities as may be assigned by your manager
Qualifications/ Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in computer science/engineering, information systems preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience
Minimum of 12+ years of industry and/or relevant experience, typically with 2+ years in a VP level role or external equivalent
Minimum of 3-5+ years experience as a software development manager
Solid knowledge and understanding of Object Oriented (Analysis, Design, Programming)
Experience managing UX - Human centered designs
Experience using Azure DevOps, Jira, Jenkins, Git, Bitbucket, or similar tools
Interest and ability to learn other coding languages as needed
Strong communication skills and great product sense
Proficient communication skills verbal and written
Demonstrates attention to detail, accuracy, and thoroughness
Strong organization, administrative and documentation skills
Proven analytical and creative problem-solving skills
Ability to manage competing demands, delays, or unexpected events
Experience with Application Integration and building APIs for a rapidly integrating products
Experience working on Agile Scrum and DevOps aligned delivery teams
Experience developing software development estimates
Experience building software products on multiple platforms and industries
Experience developing Cloud native app and or migrating app to cloud, preferably AWS
Ability to be a player coach leading a developer team setting
Experience working with two or more from the following: Microservices development, Web Application development, Unix/Linux environments, mobile application development, distributed and parallel systems, machine learning, information retrieval, natural language processing, networking, developing large software systems, and/or security software development.
Experience administering innovation with methodologies such as design thinking.
Ability to work independently and creatively, learn quickly, and solve complex problems in high-pressure situations
Adapts to every changing environment and changes approach or method to best fit the situation

The annual full time base salary range for this role is
$125,000.00 - $220,000.00
Specific compensation is determined through interviews and a review of relevant education, experience, training, skills, geographic location and alignment with market data. Additionally, certain positions may be eligible to receive a discretionary bonus as determined by bonus program guidelines, position eligibility and SitusAMC Senior Management approval. SitusAMC offers PTO and paid holidays, the terms of which are set forth in the program policies. All full time employees also are eligible to participate in various benefit plans, including medical, dental, vision, life, disability insurance and 401K; in each case in accordance with the terms of the applicable plans.
