Position Summary
Our Engineering Technicians are a vital part of our R&D team, supporting new product development and post-launch product evolution. This entry-level role focuses on research, prototype building, test validation, product inspection, data analysis, and maintaining lab safety and cleanliness. The position supports projects of limited complexity and provides valuable assistance to the engineering team. Strong troubleshooting skills, effective communication, and a basic understanding of engineering terminology are key to success in this role.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Perform lab maintenance, including equipment upkeep and inventory management.
Support 6S and lean initiatives within the lab environment.
Assist with process improvements in the lab, ensuring efficiency and safety.
Prepare worksheets for data collection, perform data entry, and analyze test data.
Coordinate with other departments to support manufacturing trial runs, sterilization, aging studies, and other engineering projects.
Execute test protocols and accurately record test results.
Build custom prototype samples for product development purposes.
Manage sample inventory from project start to completion, including real and accelerated aging studies.
Analyze data on a timely basis and report findings.
Plan and conduct projects on a limited scope or assist with portions of larger projects.
Engage in Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) initiatives, promoting continuous improvement.
Assist with special projects as assigned by the Lab Supervisor/Manager.
Work Environment
This role is primarily sedentary with occasional movement and lifting of up to 25 pounds.
Work is performed in a professional lab and office environment, and may occasionally require working in a cleanroom setting.
Standard office equipment, including computers and touch screens, is used to enter work order data.
The position may require sitting or standing for extended periods, depending on the tasks or machines being operated.
Qualifications
Knowledge & Skills
Basic understanding of mechanical systems, particularly in the context of medical devices, is required.
Familiarity with reading and interpreting engineering drawings and documentation is preferred, but not required.
Knowledge of statistical software such as Minitab, or a basic understanding of statistical terms.
Understanding of QSSOPs, GMP, FDA regulations, and ISO 9001 principles, with the ability to integrate these concepts into engineering practices.
Some familiarity with Lean and Six Sigma methodologies is a plus.
Minimum Qualifications, Education & Experience
Must be at least 18 years of age.
High School Diploma or GED required.
Either 1 year of experience as an engineering technician in a related field within manufacturing or testing, or an Associate's Degree in a related technical or engineering discipline.
Pay Details: $22.00 to $28.00 per hour
