Nuvance Health Is a network of convenient hospital and outpatient locations - Danbury Hospital, New Milford Hospital, Norwalk Hospital, and Sharon Hospital in Connecticut and Northern Dutchess Hospital, Putnam Hospital Center, and Vassar Brothers Medical Center in New York - plus multiple primary and specialty care physician practice locations, including The Heart Center and non-acute care affiliates.
Summary:
Facilitate patient flow from scheduling through registration check-in so patients have a "one-touch" registration/scheduling experience. Responsible for obtaining demographic and financial information to ensure accurate patient identification and identify and secure appropriate payment sources. Registration functions, insurance eligibility verification, patient liability collection, scheduling and admitting duties. Provide estimates for services, when appropriate. Receive and process patient financial liability payments.
Responsibilities:
Greet patients and/or physicians, staff, co-workers, and guests promptly and professionally. Check patients into the system and provide direction based on appointment location, financial clearance, and counseling status. Acknowledge and assist patients with special needs and respect confidentiality.
Responds to telephone calls according to established customer service standards. Provide requested information to callers. When assigned to scheduling, contributes to reduction of abandoned call rate, length of calls, and average speed answered through use of best practices and workflow improvements.
Perform accurate search/selection of patient within the hospital system using the Patient Identification procedure to maintain the integrity of the Electronic Master Patient Indes (EMPI) and to ensure the accuracy of patient identification.
Accurately establish and schedule appointments with patients directly or physician offices following the designated protocols of the scheduling systems and clinical EMRs. May initiate contact with patients to obtain additional information or confirm scheduled appointments.
Registration functions in the system and enter accurate and complete demographic and financial information to aid in securing payment for services rendered.
Insurance eligibility verification and execute payor requirements, as needed. Initiate eligibility transactions via e-mail, contacting the payor to obtain billing information and authorization and scripts for service, when appropriate.
Provide estimates for services when appropriate, communicate and actively solicit patient liability.
Enter testing orders in the appropriate system, when necessary. Understanding of coding, procedural protocols, and the charge description master.
Obtain signatures for all required organization, state, and federal consents and/or notifications.
REQUIREMENTS:
FLEXIBILITY to work per diem schedule; 1-4 shifts per month: Evenings, 1 Winter & 1 Summer Holiday, weekends, as needed
HS Diploma or GED and minimum of 2 years job -elated experience.
Associate's degree with 6 months job-related experience - Preferred
Basic MS Excel, Outlook, Teams, and Word as well as Customer Service and organizational skills
Willing to obtain National Association of Healthcare Access Management (NAHAM) certification after one year of service
