Job Description & Responsibilities
Persistent Systems is looking for a Senior Electrical Engineer, PCB with extensive experience in PCB design to join our team in New York City. The Senior Electrical Engineer, PCB will lead in the design of printed circuit boards for our industry-leading Wave Relay products.
Position Responsibilities
In this role, the Senior Electrical Engineer, PCB will design moderate to complex rigid and flex printed circuit boards with analog, digital, power circuits and interconnect applications
Working closely with electrical design engineers and technical leads will be responsible for the full PCB development workflow based upon physical and electrical design specifications: block diagram, detailed circuit design, board outline creation, layer stack-up definition, component placement, signal routing
Selection of electronic components and their alternates to support evolving product lifecycles
Create fabrication and assembly drawings, BOM, incorporate changes to existing design documentation
Generate all output files required for the manufacture of the board and assembly
Provide review and feedback to design engineers as needed to ensure functionality and manufacturability of PCB designs
Suggest options when faced with challenging PCB design situations including resolutions to non-standard problems
Bring up and test new designs and debug existing designs in the hardware lab environment while working closely with software developers
Participate in design reviews, interface with electrical, mechanical, manufacturing and process engineers to design prototype and production quality printed circuit boards in accordance with Persistent Systems standards and procedures
Act as the prime technical contact for the exchange of design information with PCB fabricators and CMs and resolve DFx, quality and pricing issues
Create high quality schematic symbols and layout footprints according to the corporate standards for new electrical and electromechanical components for inclusion into the database library for use in schematic and layout activities
Incorporate engineering change orders throughout the production lifecycle
Maintain design file revision control throughout the design release process
Maintain design file storage in PLM
Stay informed about the new developments in the PCB industry, investigate and propose new technologies for incorporation in the future designs
Job Qualifications & Experience
Minimum Qualifications
Must have at least 10 years of hands-on printed circuit board design, verification and test experience
Must be proficient in Altium Designer Software
Strong in Analog, Digital and Power Supply circuit design and board layout experience
Must have Knowledge of signal integrity design constraints encompassing differential pairs, impedance control, EMI, and ESD
Ability to set up and run signal/power simulations and interpret results with the goal of achieving robust designs
Comfortable with modern test and measurement equipment such as oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, signal generators
Proficient with complex HDI board layouts, high-performance materials and associated specs and standards
Working knowledge of the various issues present during the PCB fabrication and assembly and ability to define trade-offs to achieve optimal solution
Must have the ability to communicate and cooperate with multiple engineering groups, Electrical, Mechanical and Manufacturing
Experienced managing the product's life cycle and incorporating engineering change orders on PLM
Bachelor's degree in electrical or computer engineering
Must have a US Security Clearance or the ability to obtain one
