Electrical Engineer
BBandE is a full service civil and environmental engineering and consulting firm, headquartered in Northville, Michigan, which services both the Federal and Industrial sectors throughout the United States. BBandE team members provide Environmental Consulting, Facilities Engineering and Program/Project Management Services to Federal and private sectors.
Position Summary
BBandE is currently looking for an Electrical Engineer to provide Electrical Engineering design support services to support Design-Bid-Build and Design-Build projects and associated efforts undertaken by NAVFAC Pacific, Planning Design and Construction Directorate, Design Division (PDC4) at NAVFAC Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam, HI.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
Performs facilities electrical engineering design to include design calculations to size electrical services, service transformers, and secondary power distribution systems; calculations to size overcurrent devices, disconnect switches, and branch circuits and feeders; lighting calculations, lighting layouts, and specifying of light fixtures; develops drawings using AutoCAD and edits product specifications
Coordinates with team members to execute project scope, schedules, and budgets in conformance with the project and customer requirements
Facilitates the minimization of project delays by providing technical reviews and recommendations when requested within predetermined timeframes
Research codes, guidance, policies, procedures, processes, criteria and Federal laws and regulations and provides sound technical recommendations both verbally and in writing
Applies innovative technical principles, practices and theories to the resolution of technical issues
Coordinates with the Government client, NAVFAC team members, leadership, project stakeholders, and various regulatory agencies
Coordinates and facilitates meetings, makes recommendations based on project requirements, coordinates workflow processes, schedules/coordinates plans of actions and milestones (POAMs) and effectively communicates findings to project personnel; provides written minutes for all meetings
Reviews technical reports, RFIs, designs, design changes for both design-build and design bid build projects, project deliverables, submittals, cost proposals from contractors, etc. to ensure compliance with customer and RFP requirements
Provides technical support for the review of the commissioning plan, design and construction submittals, and field inspections
Provides technical support for the construction field activities
Provides summary of accomplishments during weekly meetings and in a prepared monthly status report
Field investigations are excluded; no travel required
Key Qualifications
US Citizen
Security Clearance: Secret (Tier 3 preferred) or ability to obtain
Demonstrated experience performing facilities electrical engineering design to include design calculations to size electrical services, service transformers, and secondary power distribution systems; calculations to size overcurrent devices, disconnect switches, and branch circuits and feeders; lighting calculations, lighting layouts, and specifying of light fixtures; developing drawings using AutoCAD and editing product specifications
Well versed with the National Electric Code
Demonstrated knowledge of broad-based Engineering principles and versed in the discipline being hired
Sound understanding of technical concepts, principles and practices applicable to multi-disciplined engineering project design
Demonstrated experience in preparing correspondence, written reports, and in briefing management personnel
Demonstrated experience in the use and application of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.), AutoCAD and/or Revit, etc.
The ability to adapt to new software such as eCMS, MS Teams and Zoom may also be necessary
P.E. desired, but not required
Experience and Education
Minimum of 6 years of Design Management and/or Design experience
Graduate of an accredited Engineering college curriculum (4-year degree)
Physical Requirements
Must be able to remain in a stationary position at least 60% of the time
Able to operate office equipment, including computer, copy machine, phone, etc.
Capable of light lifting, under 10 lbs.
