Meter Reader/Entry-Level

This position gathers information from commercial utility meters to determine the gas or electricity usage amount and is responsible for entering this information into the company's database for an accurate cost of consumption.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities:
Complete daily meter reading assignments in a timely and accurate manner
Demonstrates safe, high-quality work practices.
Commitment to customer service - responding to the needs of internal and external customers.
Troubleshoot and employ critical thinking daily.
Completes all work assigned promptly according to schedule. Ability to work outside in all weather conditions. This is an outdoor position
Completes all tracking documents (electronic and paper)
Sets appropriate priorities and works under scheduled time requirements and high meter reading accuracy.
Identifies and reports all conditions that prohibit the reading of meters &/or hazardous conditions to management.
Know the written safety rules and procedures and adhere to them.
Day Shift hours Monday through Friday. Some Overtime and Saturdays are required.

Minimum Qualifications:
Must be 18 years or older.
Meter Reading experience is preferred but not required.
Ability to work outside in all weather conditions.
Ability to enter/exit the truck daily 40-50 times.
Must have a good attendance and timeliness history at the current position.
Ability to comprehend new hand-held/tablet technology.
Strong Directional Skills: Ability to read and understand maps via GPS instruments and websites.
Competent in the use of PC systems including handheld devices.
Self-motivated with the ability to work with little supervision.
Education & Experience:
High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
Pre-Screen:
Upon offer, employees may be required to complete and pass a pre-employment drug screen, background, and/or MVR check.
License & Certifications:
Driver License Required.

Due to the inherently dangerous nature of the industry and requirements to work with or around hazardous equipment, employees must have sufficient eyesight to judge distance/coordination of equipment and tools, be able to maintain attention and concentration for extended periods, be able to withstand exposure to all kinds of weather while completing work assignments, be able to wear personal protective equipment as necessary, be able to enter and exit a vehicle numerous time a day, have the endurance necessary to traverse various terrain, be capable of performing job duties throughout a standard 8- or 10-hour day, be able to communicate with others, read, write, and comprehend written/verbal job instructions and information, and communicate & handle confrontations professionally.
