Job Description Summary
The Senior Staff Engineer - Systems Engineering will report to the Senior Engineering Section Manager - Systems Engineering within Edison Works' Advanced Product Development (APD) Section. The APD section is responsible for executing a military CAT1 NPI program commonly referred to as "NGP3." The team will progress an F110 derivative engine concept through design, development, vehicle integration, and testing. Technology upgrades will be introduced across all modules as necessary to meet challenging customer requirements.
The Senior Staff Engineer - APD Systems Engineering is a key engineering leadership team member who drives program execution to delight the customer and meet or exceed customer technical requirements while protecting GE interests. This leader will own the development of advanced propulsion system subsystems, components, and modules. The successful candidate will be a self-motivated leader who effectively works across the enterprise and with multiple external customers to ensure coordination, cooperation, and execution of program efforts.
Systems engineering is a cross-functional engineering discipline centered on an approach, mindset, and process that consider both the business' needs and the technical needs of the customers. Systems engineers execute a robust design, creation, and optimization of systems. This is done by identifying and quantifying system requirements, creating alternate system design concepts, performing design trade studies, selecting/implementing the best designs, and verifying that the design is properly integrated and executed.
This role has significant autonomy. High levels of evaluative judgment and operational acumen are required to achieve outcomes.

Roles and Responsibilities
Serve as primary technical owner for development of advanced propulsion system subsystems, components, and modules.
Drive cross-functional team support and collaborate with adjacent functions to ensure a coherent set of requirements, resolving conflicting inputs across all stakeholder teams.
Become an expert in MBSE and ensure all interfaces, test plans, and qualification plans are accurately and completely mapped to components and modeled without error in the MBSE digital model.
Formulate and implement plans to achieve program requirements, schedules, and contract commitments.
Present business or technical discipline challenges and solutions to leaders. Communicate complex messages and negotiate, mainly internally, with others to adopt a different point of view.
Collaborate with internal and external customers to understand program needs, build confidence in GE Aerospace's ability to execute and deliver, and provide solutions that meet program cost and schedule constraints.
Monitor and communicate project status, business issues and significant developments as appropriate.
Assist in developing new business opportunities by leading and contributing to proposal efforts.
Effectively communicate and provide recommendations through the analysis and presentation of data to internal and external customers.
Advocate for our airframe partners' interests and communicate with management on strategic and/or technical issues.
Assure proper documentation of technical data generated for the assigned projects and/or tasks consistent with engineering policies and procedures.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in engineering, Physics, or Mathematics from an accredited college or university
Minimum of 10 years of experience in an engineering position.
Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience with Engine Systems Engineering
Active "Advanced Programs" access
Must be a US Citizen and must be able to obtain and hold a Top Secret Clearance.
Active DoD Security Clearance at the Secret level or higher
Due to security requirements, this position must be able to work a full-time in the office schedule
Desired Characteristics
Strong experience with aircraft engine component/systems design
Experience working with DoD customer and processes.
Experience managing DoD EVM projects.
Experience with GE Aerospace financial and program management tools
Experience with Lean operating principles and able to act as Lean coach and mentor.
