CNC HBM Machinist - BWX Technologies, Inc. - Barberton, OH
Candidates please note: This position is available on our weekend shift which consists of twelve (12) hours on Saturday and Sunday and eight (8) hours on Monday (the eight shift could be Friday instead of Monday); work thirty two (32) hours and get paid for forty (40) hours. Scheduled off days are Tuesday through Friday or Monday through Thursday depending upon the shift. Training will be on the Monday - Friday crew before being assigned to the weekend crew.
If hired, you will set up and operate twin column multi-axis master head machines to perform a variety of machining operations, including contouring, trepanning, milling, drilling, tapping, and boring. Additionally, the operatoryou will prepare machined pieces for inspection and will perform final inspection of features using both an inspection probe and/or precision measuring equipment.
Primary Responsibilities
Works with Programmer as necessary to develop and/or test run programs; proofreads programs and notifies Programmer of potential problems.
Works to .000" tolerance and 16 micro-finish.
Assists crane operator with the rigging and moving of parts to load and unload machine.
Cleans and lubricates machine; notifies supervisor of needed machine maintenance.
Cleans own work area.
Verifies identify of materials/jobs in accordance with established procedures.
Minimum Requirements
Desired applicants should have a high school diploma or GED equivalence, coupled with at least three (3) years of relevant machining experience. Lesser work experience coupled with formal education may be acceptable. Additionally, desired applicants:
Must be able to perform setups.
Must be able to demonstrate knowledge and proper use of precision measuring equipment.
Must be able to edit or modify programs as necessary; must be able to write minor programs.
Must have working knowledge of feeds and speeds for all types of materials.
Must be able to demonstrate knowledge of G and M coded commands (knowledge of Siemens and/or Fanuc preferred).
Must possess the skills necessary to complete process documentation, shop records, and any other production and inspection records as required.
Must be open and available to working all shifts
Must be able to pass all pre-screening requirements, including skills assessment and mechanical aptitude testing.
Must pass a pre-employment screening that includes a background check, drug screen, and physical examination.
Due to our work with the federal government, successful applicants must be U.S. citizens with no dual citizenship.
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of the job, the employee is regularly required communicate verbally and with written information; to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to walk. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and use ladders inside and outside of parts being machined. The employee is occasionally required to lift and move up to 50 lbs. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
