This Systems Engineering team directly impacts the GE Aerospace mission by driving the holistic strategic plan for the Engine Level Model including closure on safety issues, engine configuration, airframe integration requirements aligned to customer airworthiness qualification, maintenance plan, field investigation and test objectives, sustaining product & growth strategies, while inventing next generation engine platforms through sustainable technology insertions.
About this Position
This Staff Engineer will report to the Cincinnati-based Military New Product Introduction (NPI) / Growth Team Sub-Section Manager and will be responsible for supporting GE powered large combat aircraft currently under development. In this role you will be responsible for managing engine-airframe integration activities focusing on Controls integration support to ensure interface requirements are fully defined and met. You will work closely with several integrated product teams (IPT), formed with members from Systems Engineering, Design Engineering, Controls Engineering, and other support organizations as well as those from the Air-framer Propulsion Integration teams. Your role will evolve over time from Systems Design to ensure flight safety and readiness prior to First Flight, to Flight Test Support, to Engine Qualification for the new application and use.
Job Description
Roles and Responsibilities
Being the main point of contact for the Program Systems teams and Customers in order to keep consistency between the turbomachinery team and the advanced design teams.
Establish plans and coordinate activities of the Controls Integrated Product Team (IPT)
Negotiate technical requirements, schedules, and contract commitments between GE and Air=framer for NPI engine application
Derive, refine, and flow down requirements to IPT specialists
Serve as focal point for system level integration issues involving control system
Resource for flight test findings and data exploration
Coordinate introduction of development engine control software to the flight test
Engineering lead for development of offboard analytics and plane-side data acquisition systems
Technical consultant for accuracy of Organizational Level manuals
Support safety of flight and engine qualification efforts
Travel internationally for in-person IPT meetings and/or Program Management Reviews
Influence policy and development of standard work and ensure delivery within area of responsibility while part-ering with other parts of the organization
Interpret internal and external business challenges and recommend best practices to improve products, processes, and services
Monitor and communicate project status, business issues and significant developments
Assure proper documentation of technical data consistent with engineering policies and procedures
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical or Aeronautical Engineering (or a similar discipline focused on mechanical or aerothermal design) from an accredited college or university.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in a relevant engineering position.
Due to the nature of the duties of this position, this role requires the individual to obtain and maintain US Government Security Clearance; prerequisite for a security clearance is U.S. citizenship.
