Position Summary:
Marine Electricians are responsible for the installation, test and repair or marine cables and equipment, installation and connection of lighting, electrical power, troubleshooting and repair of shipboard and facilities electrical systems. The Marine Electrician will be required to use and maintain hand and power tools, various test equipment. Must be able to read blueprints, drawings, and schematics.
As a Marine Electrician, you will be responsible for the installation, testing, and repair of marine cables and equipment. This includes connecting lighting and electrical power, as well as troubleshooting and repairing shipboard and facilities electrical systems. You will work with hand and power tools, various test equipment, and must be proficient in reading blueprints, drawings, and schematics. Your role is crucial in maintaining safety and security standards, meeting productivity goals and quality standards as set by management. Regular communication with officers, managers, and supervisors about departmental issues is expected. You will also guide and train other workers in electrical wiring, equipment, or fixture installation, maintenance, or repair.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:Plan layout and installation of electrical wiring, equipment, or fixtures, based on job specifications and local codes.
Connect wires to circuit breakers, transformers, or other components.
Test electrical systems or continuity of circuits in electrical wiring, equipment, or fixtures, using testing devices, such as ohmmeters, voltmeters, or oscilloscopes, to ensure compatibility and safety of system.
Use a variety of tools or equipment, such as power construction equipment, measuring devices, power tools, and testing equipment, such as oscilloscopes, ammeters, or test lamps.
Inspect electrical systems, equipment, or components to identify hazards, defects, or the need for adjustment or repair, and to ensure compliance with codes.
Prepare sketches or follow blueprints to determine the location of wiring or equipment and to ensure conformance to building and safety codes.
Diagnose malfunctioning systems, apparatus, or components, using test equipment and hand tools to locate the cause of a breakdown and correct the problem.
Advise management on whether continued operation of equipment could be hazardous.
Place conduit, pipes, or tubing, inside designated partitions, walls, or other concealed areas, and pull insulated wires or cables through the conduit to complete circuits between boxes.
Direct or train workers to install, maintain, or repair electrical wiring, equipment, or fixtures.
Repair or replace wiring, equipment, or fixtures, using hand tools or power tools.
Install ground leads and connect power cables to equipment, such as motors.
Assemble, install, test, or maintain electrical or electronic wiring, equipment, appliances, Perform business management duties, such as maintaining records or files, preparing reports, or ordering supplies or equipment.
Fasten small metal or plastic boxes to walls to house electrical switches or outlets.
Construct or fabricate parts, using hand tools, according to specifications.
Perform physically demanding tasks, such as digging trenches to lay conduit or moving or lifting heavy objects.
Provide assistance during emergencies by operating floodlights or generators, placing flares, or driving needed vehicles.
Provide preliminary sketches or cost estimates for materials or services.
Assist with the set-up and preventive maintenance of equipment
Learn to operate equipment, including forklifts and manlifts
Perform other duties as assigned

Additional Skills & Qualifications:
Education and Specialized Training:
Apprenticeship, or Associates Degree and two (2) years, or trade school certificate and two (2) years or four (4) years experience (Degree should be in Engineering or related field).
Two (2)+ years of installation, modification, field change, operation, and repair of military electrical wiring and cable systems
Experience with fiber optics, pinning connectors and building/assembly cables
Security Clearance and Citizenship:
Security - SECRET (Final) Clearance. Red Badge
US Citizenship Required
Valid Driver's License
Desired Certifications but NOT required:
Cableway Certification
Multi-Pin Connector Certification
