The Department of Defense (DoD) Middle Tier of Acquisition (MTA) Subject Matter Expert (SME) will provide expert guidance and support for programs and projects utilizing the Middle Tier of Acquisition pathway. The SME will be responsible for ensuring compliance with MTA policies and procedures, advising on best practices, and assisting in the successful execution of rapid prototyping and rapid fielding efforts. This role demands a deep understanding of DoD acquisition processes, particularly the MTA pathway, and requires excellent communication and organizational skills.
This role may require occasional travel to various PEO AVN UAS sites and contractor facilities. Work is performed in a combination of office and TDY environments with a home office being Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville, AL.
Responsibilities
Subject Matter Expertise:
Provide expert advice on all aspects of the MTA pathway, including rapid prototyping and rapid fielding to the PMO leadership team.
Interpret and apply DoD policies, procedures, and regulations related to MTA.
Stay updated on changes to MTA policies and ensure compliance across projects.
Program Support:
Assist program managers and teams in developing and executing MTA strategies.
Review and provide feedback on acquisition documentation, including acquisition strategies, program schedules, and milestone reviews.
Facilitate the identification and mitigation of risks associated with MTA projects.
Provide programmatic and strategic communication supporting MTA efforts.
Training and Development:
Develop and deliver training sessions and materials to educate teams on MTA processes and best practices.
Mentor and support junior staff members and new team members in understanding and applying MTA principles.
Stakeholder Engagement:
Liaise with internal and external stakeholders, including government officials, contractors, and industry partners, to ensure alignment and successful project execution.
Represent the organization at meetings, conferences, and other forums related to DoD acquisitions.
Performance Analysis:
Monitor and evaluate the performance of MTA projects, providing insights and recommendations for improvements.
Develop acquisition strategies towards future business development.
Conduct lessons learned analyses and implement continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualifications
Bachelors degree in Business, Engineering, Project Management, or a related field. A Masters degree or higher is preferred.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in DoD acquisition, with a 3 year focus on the MTA pathway.
Proven track record of successful MTA project execution.
Relevant certifications such as DAWIA (Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act) Level III in Program Management or equivalent.
In-depth knowledge of DoD acquisition policies, including the Adaptive Acquisition Framework and MTA pathway.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and manage multiple stakeholders.
Proficiency in using acquisition management tools and software.
Active DoD Secret clearance or higher is required.
U.S. citizenship is required.
