Job Description:
The Lead, Systems Engineer will lead pursuit teams to design complex Land Mobile Radio system solutions that satisfy specific customer requirements within solicited RFPs and unsolicited pursuits. System designs involve L3Harris, vendor equipment, and typically include IP networks, microwave links, wireless data, RF antenna subsystems, 911 dispatch and/or other custom designed subsystems. Perform site visits and analyze existing customer technical assets.
Essential Functions:
Craft high quality proposal text and drawings that clearly and effectively describe the technical solutions being offered. Participate in discussions and presentations with customers, consultants, vendors and other L3Harris personnel as necessary to advance projects.
Formally present technical solutions and product information to customers, professional organizations, and consultant groups for the designs developed through the proposal process.
Identify technical risk and coordinate technical transition of design to implementation system engineer after contract is awarded.
Ability to obtain a US Security Clearance
Ability to travel 10%, sometimes requiring working extended hours
Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree with 9 years prior experience in telecommunication systems design involving LMR communications systems (P25, Tetra, DMR, Microwave and LTE), Public safety grade mobile voice and data networks, or Graduate Degree with 7 years prior experience in telecommunication systems design involving LMR communications systems (P25, Tetra, DMR, Microwave and LTE), Public safety grade mobile voice and data networks. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 13 years of prior related experience in telecommunication systems design involving LMR communications systems (P25, Tetra, DMR, Microwave and LTE), Public safety grade mobile voice and data networks.
Preferred Additional Skills:
Knowledge of integrated command and control Dispatch Consoles, Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD). Overall knowledge of Public safety mobile broadband networks and devices (LTE).
Strong general knowledge of wireless communications fundamentals and voice/data architectures - both public and private (e.g. APCO P25, DMR, Tetra, LTE, 802.11, 3G/4G) is highly desirable.
Experience in design of IP networks, RF antenna systems, two-way radio systems, microwave systems, wireless data systems, data networking, as well as system configuration is desired.
Complete knowledge of RF coverage predictions, including coverage analysis, frequency reuse, traffic/capacity modeling.
Strong communications skills. Strong written and interpersonal communication skills, as well as strong presentation skills with the ability to present complex topics to technical and non-technical audiences in English (any additional language is a plus).
Possess excellent interpersonal skills and have demonstrated the capacity to effectively foster team building within and beyond his/her work group.

In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role in Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, Vermont, Washington State and New York State is $106,500 - $197,500. For California, Seattle, Washington D.C., Maryland Greater Washington D.C. area and New York City, the salary range for this role is $122,500 - $227,500. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location.
