As a Scientist, Systems Engineer in a specialized area, you will inform or lead critical decision making to ensure Launch and Test Range Systems (LTRS) and DTAMM requirements are met. A LTRS Development SME, who supports Technical Direction Letters (TDL) planning activities to address development activity processes, procedures, and complexity. This position supports the Space & Airborne Systems (SAS) division, a great team of talented professionals with world class technical expertise who take a collaborative approach to engineering and enjoy working together. LTRS consists of 11 interrelated subsystems that together provide the SLD 30 WR and SLD 45 ER with launch-enabling operations.
The Range Safety Subsystems (RSSS) provide the capability to have positive command of an errant rocket if necessary to protect public safety. These subsystems rely on the Positive Control Subsystem (PCSS), Telemetry Subsystem (TMSS), Radar Subsystem (RDSS), and Optics Subsystem (OPSS) to provide tracking data. The Weather Subsystem (WXSS) and Surveillance Subsystem (SVSS) allow range operators and customers to determine if conditions are safe for launch. The Communications Subsystem (CMSS), Data Handling Subsystem (DHSS), and Timing and Sequencing Subsystem (TSSS) ensure critical data is expeditiously routed from remote sensors (e.g., radars, optics) to range operators and customers. Finally, the Planning and Scheduling Subsystem (PSSS) ensures all assets are available when needed for a launch or test operation.
Essential Functions:
Support launch through modernization and evolution of the Launch Ranges into Spaceports.
Develop common, centralized, and integrated systems, employ cloud infrastructure, software factory and software development services, and cyber security strategies to facilitate data-driven range activities, digital processing, and data distribution.
Act as a Subject Matter Expert on the Launch and Test Range Systems (LTRS)
Analyzes TDL requirements and provides guidance on technical areas including hardware, software, technical/manufacturing readiness levels, industry capabilities, best practices, development options, and life cycle costs for each project.
Provides insight into typical development processes will guide the TDP responses to provide informed, actionable execution plans.
Stays abreast of current technology and innovations to be considered as a solution for LTRS shortfalls/needs/requirements.
25% travel to Vandenberg SFB, CA.

Qualifications :
Bachelor's Degree and a minimum of 12 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 10 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 16 years of prior related experience.
Active Secret Security Clearance.
Experience generating requirements at various levels of the system and flowing down requirements to sub-systems/sub-components.
Experience with 11 Launch and Test Range Systems (LTRS) subsystems.
Preferred Additional Skills:
10 years experience with Launch and Test Range Systems (LTRS) subsystems.
Experience with negotiating solutions among functional groups (Systems Engineering, Mission Engineering, Software Engineering, etc.).
Experience working on aerospace/defense space ground communication systems (e.g. Launch and Test Range Systems (LTRS)).
Excellent communication and presentation skills and the ability to work harmoniously in a team environment with government customers and other contractors
Experience with cloud infrastructure, software factory and software development services
Experience with Product Lifecycle Management, DevSecOps, and FPGA DevOps
Proven analytical and troubleshooting skills demonstrated by related work experience
Strong coordination and organization skills with a focus on details
