Test Engineer
Location: Orlando, FL
Job Description: We are seeking a dynamic Test Engineer to join our Mechanical Test Lab team. This role involves hands-on mechanical evaluation of aerospace-grade materials, prototype parts, and assemblies, as well as production parts and assemblies. The primary responsibilities include supporting internal customers for research and development projects and contracted programs, particularly within the defense industry. Tasks are verified and evaluated with the test requester and scheduled in an environment with competing and conflicting needs. When necessary, new testing methods are evaluated, and standard processes are developed. Test results are reported, reviewed with the supervisor or manager, and communicated to the customer. Coordination and teamwork with other groups are essential.
Primary Responsibilities:
Calibrate and safely operate universal mechanical testing equipment.
Analyze mechanical test data.
Conduct mechanical testing of materials per ASTM specifications, including tensile, shear, torsion, and compression testing.
Develop and document new standard laboratory processes.
Schedule, de-conflict, coordinate, and execute multiple technical activities concurrently.
Utilize MS Office-suite for communication, scheduling, data processing, basic data transfer, and project documentation.
Communicate effectively in writing and verbally.
Support defense industry projects by ensuring compliance with DoD standards and requirements.
Qualifications:
Minimum of 2 years of experience with mechanical testing equipment and data analysis.
Minimum of 2 years of experience with ASTM specifications for mechanical testing.
BS in Engineering or related Sciences with 3 years of experience, or MS with demonstrated interest and experience in hands-on mechanical testing and evaluation of hardware.
Eligible for DoD Security Clearance.
Proficient in a Windows-based MS Office-suite environment.
Secondary Skills - Nice to Haves:
Experience in aerospace engineering hardware-focused testing.
Familiarity with defense industry standards and practices.
