Job Title: Material Coordinator (NWS 00730)
North Wind Services is actively seeking individuals who can contribute to national security within the science, technology, and engineering fields as part of our supplemental labor team at vital federal research and development installations supporting the Department of Energy. NWS has an established history of contributing to the success of their customer's mission. Qualified applicants must be a US citizen, at least 18 years of age, and able to meet pre-employment requirements including any required physicals, drug screen, and/or background investigation to satisfy clearance requirements from the Department of Energy.
Successful candidates will be employees of NWS, a premier government contractor charged with employing highly motivated and well-qualified personnel who can advance the missions of the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory in Livermore, CA. Though employed by NWS, the employee will take day-to-day direction from technical personnel employed directly by the research laboratories. Pay, benefits, Human Resource, and Employment Management functions are provided by NWS.
The Operations and Business Directorate has an opening within the Asset Management Division for a Material Coordinator to perform difficult and complex material coordination duties. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing all duties related to the receipt of materials, parts, supplies, and equipment. The successful candidate will serve as a principal resource in the area of work assignment: Receiving & Distribution, Shipping, or Mail Services.
This position may require the successful candidate have the flexibility to work overtime, shift and or weekends to accomplish goals. The successful candidate will be required to pass various on-site training modules to pursue work assignments.
Essential Duties
Perform difficult and complex tasks in compliance with applicable Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL) procedures and federal, state, and local environmental, safety and health regulations.
Receive, separate, and distribute material requiring special handling in accordance with regulations, LLNL policies, and applicable LLNL/Asset Management Department policies and procedures, and federal, state, and local environmental, safety and health regulations.
Provide information in response to inquiries and solve diverse and multi-faceted problems of moderate scope and complexity, working within a framework of standard policies and procedures, laws, and regulations.
Transmit records from bar code readers or other handheld devices into the property management system or the receiving systems to create property "receipt" and accountability records and create reports to ensure proper tracking and reconciliation.
Use motor vehicles and operate material handling equipment, such as hand trucks.
Identify and resolve shipment discrepancies with internal and external buyers, requesters, customers, and Property Management to ensure accurate receiving records are kept and maintained.
Verify a wide variety of material against shipping/receiving documents, noting and reporting obvious damage.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Essential Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities
Minimum of 2 years of material handling experience.
Comprehensive practical knowledge of material handling operations, techniques and methods and regulatory requirements and/or related DOE policies and procedures.
Specialized knowledge of environment, safety and health standards, and policies and procedures to identify hazardous conditions and operations.
Experience with high level problem solving and decision-making skills necessary to independently identify appropriate material handling procedural actions and solutions.
Effective organizational skills, detail oriented, with experience prioritizing tasks with frequent interruptions and distractions, often with short deadlines.
Proven ability to work independently as well as function as a teammate to accomplish the goals and objectives of the Department.
Effective verbal and written communication skills and ability to interact considerately and effectively with a diverse group of personalities and disciplines at various levels
Comprehensive knowledge and experience with mobile devices, personal computers, and software applications (word processing, spreadsheets, and databases).
Working knowledge of forklift, pallet jack, and other warehouse equipment and ability to obtain and maintain Powered Industrial Truck certification.
Desired Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities
-Knowledge of LLNL Asset Management, Laboratory and ES&H Policies and Procedures.
Knowledge of institutional applications, such as Sunflower Assets (SFA), Laboratory Integrated Network for Contracts and Supply (LINCS) and the Laboratory's online shipping request application (ShipIt).
Experience using handheld barcode readers for warehousing performance.
Knowledge of Facility Operations at LLNL.
Special Requirements
Pre-Placement Medical Exam: A job-related pre-placement medical examination may be required.

Anticipated Clearance Level: Q (position will be cleared to this level). Applicants selected will be subject to a federal background investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information or matter.
