Job Title: Production Planning Specialist (NWS 00722)
North Wind Services is actively seeking individuals who can contribute to national security within the science, technology, and engineering fields as part of our supplemental labor team at vital federal research and development installations supporting the Department of Energy. NWS has an established history of contributing to the success of their customer's mission. Qualified applicants must be a US citizen, at least 18 years of age, and able to meet pre-employment requirements including any required physicals, drug screen, and/or background investigation to satisfy clearance requirements from the Department of Energy.
Successful candidates will be employees of NWS, a premier government contractor charged with employing highly motivated and well-qualified personnel who can advance the missions of the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory in Livermore, CA. Though employed by NWS, the employee will take day- to-day direction from technical personnel employed directly by the research laboratories. Pay, benefits, Human Resource, and Employment Management functions are provided by NWS.
The Supply Chain Management (SCM) within Operations has an opening for a Production Planning Specialist focused on the LLNS Leadership Institute. The successful candidate will be responsible for coordination with project and project procurement management, engineering, construction, planning and scheduling, area expediting, and other procurement personnel assigned to the project team. Also, maintains contact with suppliers to monitor the progress of material and equipment orders. Follows up and ensures on time delivery or current and future orders.
Essential Duties
-Contacts suppliers to obtain timely submission of engineering data or documentation and to follow-up on material acquisition, production progress and shipment.
-Evaluates production schedules and progress reports from suppliers to determine if their programs and work progress meet jobsite requirements.
-Coordinates with planning and scheduling, field material coordinators or jobsite project expeditors and construction to establish priorities, sequences and required delivery dates and instructs suppliers accordingly.
-Expedites engineering and/or project management for the timely review, approval and return of engineering data submitted by suppliers.
-Represents expediting at project team meetings.
Maintains a working file of expediting related documents and memoranda of conversations to record expediting activities.
Maintains a system to initiate follow-up actions at appropriate times.
-Provides information for area expediting assignments for prime and suborders as necessary.
-Updates key contacts within Supply Chain, Project Management and Engineering in a timely manner.
-Obtains copies of supplier's orders for material, performs sub-supplier expediting, where necessary, and works closely with supplier quality representatives to ensure awareness of materials subject to quality performance and their locations of manufacture.
-Participates in pre- and post-award meetings to review and discuss schedules and potential problem areas -that may impact required shipment dates.
-Coordinates shipping arrangements or tracking requests with the project traffic representative.
-Reviews material receiving reports against shipping documents to verify that material has been received at jobsite. Assists in tracing missing material.
-Subject to project requirements, monitors the issuance of material requisitions, and other project and procurement actions affecting material deliveries.
Essential Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities
-Minimum of 2 to 4 years of experience in Supply Chain Management with a Bachelor of Arts degree
-Advanced Excel Skills required, ability to work with One Drive and Teams desired.
-Strong oral and written communication skills regarding technical and production matters with both project and supplier personnel.
-Strong organizational and problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
-Ability to work independently plus adjust to changing priorities and demands.
-Ability to anticipate the needs and issues before they arise.
-Good knowledge of general business practices, supply chain management and administrative procedures.
-Proficient in multi-tasking and organizing tasks for completion by an agreed deadline.
-Knows how to deal professionally and collaborate effectively with suppliers, project personnel and other stakeholders.
-An understanding of production steps and methods.
-Basic knowledge of Federal Acquisition Regulations, and applicable Agency Supplements.
-Basic understanding of Governmental Contracts and the flow-down of applicable clauses and requirements.
Special Requirements
Pre-Placement Medical Exam: A job related pre-placement medical examination may be required.

Anticipated Clearance Level: P (position will be cleared to this level). Applicants selected will be subject to a federal background investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information or matter. In addition, all L or Q cleared employees are subject to random drug testing. Q- level clearance requires U.S. citizenship.
