Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems is looking to add a Principal Electronics Engineer (Supplier Management Team (SMT) Lead) OR Senior Principal Electronics Engineer (Supplier Management Team (SMT) Lead) to our team in Rancho Bernando, CA. This position will be in our Avionics Integration Organization.
The selected candidate will be required to work full-time, on-site at our facility. Once established in role, this position could offer a hybrid work environment. Scheduled telework days are approved at manager's discretion.
This position requires the ability to travel up to 25% of the time.
As part of the Supplier Management Team (SMT) Lead, the candidate will report to the Communications Hardware Team within the Mission Systems IPT and is the IPT's and Global Supply Chain's (GSC's) primary interface to the supplier for the associated subsystem(s). Selected candidate must have experience with installation, integration, and troubleshooting of aviation related communications systems, component sub-systems, RF Line of Sight, SATCOM, and tactical networks.
Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Coordinating the efforts of the SMT, including engineers, the subcontracts administrator, supplier quality assurance representatives, logistics engineers, the cost account manager, the scheduler, and the material planner.
Coordinating and managing the execution of all phases of supplier performance, including planning, proposals, new capability development, production, testing, deliveries, and sustainment.
Conducting or coordinating review of supplier documentation (e.g., technical evaluations of proposals, acceptance test procedures, cost and schedule reports, software version description documents).
Reporting supplier status to Program Managers, GSC managers, and IPT Management.
Lead a team of Engineers in the design, development, analysis, and validation of communication products.
Create and develop documentation for system requirements and interfaces, including system engineering drawings and diagrams

This position can be filled at either the Principal Electronics Engineer (Supplier Management Team (SMT) Lead) level or the Senior Principal Electronics Engineer (Supplier Management Team (SMT) Lead) level, depending upon the qualifications below.
Basic Qualifications for Principal Electronics Engineer (Supplier Management Team (SMT) Lead):
Bachelor of Science Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline and 5 years of related engineering experience; OR a Master's degree in a STEM discipline and 3 years of related engineering experience; OR a PhD in a STEM discipline with 0 years of related engineering experience.
Active DoD Secret security clearance
Ability to obtain and maintain Top Secret clearance once in position. This Top Secret clearance must be obtained within a reasonable amount of time as determined by the company to meet its business needs.
Ability to obtain and maintain Special Program Access (SAP). This SAP must be obtained within a reasonable amount of time as determined by the company to meet its business needs.
Basic Qualifications for Senior Principal Electronics Engineer (Supplier Management Team (SMT) Lead):
Bachelor of Science Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline and 8 years of related engineering experience; OR a Master's degree in a STEM discipline and 6 years of related engineering experience; OR a PhD in a STEM discipline with 3 years of related engineering experience.
Active DoD Secret security clearance
Ability to obtain and maintain Top Secret clearance once in position. This Top Secret clearance must be obtained within a reasonable amount of time as determined by the company to meet its business needs.
Ability to obtain and maintain Special Program Access (SAP). This SAP must be obtained within a reasonable amount of time as determined by the company to meet its business needs.
Preferred Qualifications for both levels:
Master's degree in a STEM discipline, Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, or related field
Experience managing suppliers as part of a government/DOD contract
Experience in supplier statement of work generation
Experience with T&M, CPIF, CPFF, and FFP contract types
Experience with requirements development/flow down
Experience with contract negotiations
Experience with technical evaluations of proposals
Program Management experience / completion of Project Management Professional course
CAM/EV training
Experience with product lifecycles and government acquisition process related to selling, development, LRIP/production, sustainment
Experience with repair management, DMSMS evaluations, MRP requirements
General technical exposure to payload subsystems, platform integration and test
Experience working with UAVs, satellites, or military-grade air vehicles.
Active in-scope, DoD Top Secret clearance.
Salary Range: $107,300 - $160,900
Salary Range 2: $133,000 - $199,600
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
