Summary
The Locksmith duties will include, but not limited to the following: manage locks and keys, control data, install and repair locks and locking devices (both mechanical and electronic key/touch pad), perform emergency openings, set, and change combinations of safes, fabricate and issue keys, issue and control padlocks, and maintain work order information.
Responsibilities
Receive key request forms from civil service, contractor employees, and partners. Verify and confirm authorized signatures. Prepare required work order tasks or documentation. Distribute keys in accordance with established practices.
Account for all master keys on the Center on a semi-annual basis.
Provide locksmith services to support critical national assets and national treasures such as lunar and planetary samples.
Ensure all safes are serviceable for reuse. All combinations shall be changed on safes and vaults upon re-issuance.
Maintain and safely operate tools and machinery in the Locksmith Shop.
Coordinate with facility maintenance and construction personnel to install and remove locks.
Advise and consult with maintenance, operations, engineering, and security personnel regarding locking devices and other keying material.
Meet with design engineers when necessary.
Maintain an inventory of spare parts and components for all locksmith assignments and duties.
Assist in evaluating lost key incidents and reviewing investigations involving all locking systems.
Assist security personnel and key custodians in conducting key audit
Required to follow all company personnel and safety policies and perform all assigned duties in a safe work manner.
Complies with department policies, rules, and regulations.

Qualifications
Secret clearance
Minimum of one (1) year of experience as a certified locksmith.
Possess a high school diploma.
Locksmith Certification withing 365 days of appointment.
Safe & Vault Technician Inspector Training & Certificationwithin 365 days of appointment.
NASA SATERN training (e.g., annual IT security)
Lenel certification required.
Possess knowledge of and experience in; Physical Access Control System management; System programming that includes managing physical access levels, PACS component programming, reports, and video systems management.
