Job Title: Waveform Development Lead Systems Engineer Location: San Diego, CA US Citizenship: Required Job Description: Technology Unlimited Group (TUG) is seeking a highly motivated Systems Engineer to support Waveform development, integration, and test activities. In this role you will have the opportunity to lead a team and directly support the Department of Defense (DoD) communications system programs, principally in support of the U.S. Navy. The position will be at the TUG office in Point Loma, CA and/or customer sites in San Diego. We are seeking engineers to add to our team to perform the full range of duties including concept and prototype development, integration of prototype and production capabilities, testing & integration, and formal evaluation. The job will entail but is not limited to: Developing, Integrating, and Testing prototypes with existing and novel waveforms. Designing and implementing prototypes and production quality systems. Conducting tests and assessments of capabilities in both laboratory and operationally relevant environments. Socializing technical capabilities and/or changes with customers and stakeholders. Creating, Authoring, Reviewing, and Validating System documentation. Providing Customer Support at DoD and other Contractor facilities. Required Skills and Qualifications: 7 years of technical experience performing development, integration and test with Tactical Data Links and/or wideband communications systems such as Common Data Link (CDL). 3 years of experience managing technical projects, a team or program. Bachelor degree from accredited university related to Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) disciplines. Experience with RF system concepts and components including antenna technology. Experience with Software Defined Radios (SDR). Experience with waveform fundamentals and/or definitions. Experience with integration and testing. Possess an Active DoD Secret Security Clearance. Must pass Pre-Employment Drug Test. Proficiency in technical writing and oral communications skills and proven ability to work with and communicate with project team members, customers, and Military representatives. Desired Skills and Qualifications: In addition to the required skills, the ideal candidate should have experience in one or more of the following areas: Experience with Tactical Data Links, navigation and communications systems. Experience with various wideband data link waveforms like Bandwidth Efficient CDL and standard CDL. Knowledge of networking protocols and their application, including SNMP. Ability to develop software and/or simulations of interfaces using either MATLAB/EMANE/ Octave/Python/C++ or other method(s). Proficiency with various types of test equipment and software packages. Experience with Defect Data Base tracking tools. Knowledge of Ad Hoc networking including discovery functions. Knowledge of Tactical networking waveforms such as Link 11, Link 16, and Link 22 Experience with Waveform analysis. Ability to analyze or define new waveforms to meet customer requirements (propagation, bandwidth, data rates, etc.) Proficient with test equipment (signal generators, scopes, analyzers, power meters). Experience with RF/Digital circuitry. Experience with DOORS and other automated requirements tracking. Familiarity with SEI CMM/CMMI, and military or IEEE software engineering practices. Familiarity with Microsoft Word including the use of type styles and templates. Familiarity with Continuous Integration / Continuous Delivery (CI/CD). Eagerness to learn and continuously improve.
