The Challenge:
Provides research-related recommendations and support to Government PI's
Assists personnel with day-to-day laboratory operations pertaining to research-related sample storage and equipment maintenance; services shall not include inherently Governmental functions
Coordinates information pertaining to lab management activities between departmental sections
Ensures all Government equipment is properly maintained and calibrated in accordance with established protocols and research standard operating procedures (SOPs); assists with annual and/or periodic equipment inventory and ordering
Ensures that general laboratory supplies are sufficient to support all departmental projects; assists with ordering supplies; receives shipments of samples/materials and transfers to proper storage location as required
Provides recommended technical changes to protocols and SOPs; assists in the creation and routing of SOPs and duplications of protocols (DOPs) for DE projects and/or equipment; performs risk assessments and implements risk mitigation strategies and controls for hazardous chemicals
Assists Laser and Radiofrequency (RF) Safety Officer to maximize DE laboratory safety compliance; upholds health and safety protocols in compliance with Safety Officer and Chemical Hygiene officer, to include: maintains chemical and biological reagents/sample inventory, authorized users list (AUL) for hazardous chemicals, assists with satellite accumulation point (SAP) hazardous waste site establishment and disposal, and weekly eyewash station checks
Aides Deputy Director and PIs in the coordination of animal research activities
Provides additional functions incidental to research activities and laboratory
What Sets You Apart:
Bachelor’s degree in a basic or health science with five years of experience, or Master’s degree in Biomedical Science with 1 year of experience
Ability to acquire, at a minimum, a SECRET classification access level. Preference will be given to a candidate who already has this clearance level, but current clearance is not required
Current certification in American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS); American Heart Association Healthcare Provider Course; American Red Cross CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation); or equivalent. Web based classes do not meet these standards. You will need to obtain if not already certified
Due to Federal contract requirements, US citizenship is required

Pay Range:
Pay Range $53,950.00 - $97,525.00
The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary.
