Description
Applied Research Associates, Inc. (ARA) seeks an experienced Cyber and Electronic Attack Modeling subject matter expert (SME) to aid in the design, development, improvement, and integration of software and analytic methodologies to support assessment of weapon system vulnerability and exposure to non-kinetic threats.
The candidate will join a team of cyber SMEs who provide on-site and remote technical support (RTS) to offensive and defensive non-kinetic operational communities at bases throughout the country. The RTS team's mission is to inculcate the use of cyber modeling tools to support vulnerability assessments and cyber resiliency across the weapon system lifecycle.
As a Non-Kinetic Integration Modeling SME, you will define, refine, and assist in the adoption of a specific set of cyber tools. You will apply your cyber effects knowledge and experience to generate and evaluate developing technologies and methodologies for cyber-enabled planning and assessment of targeting operations. You will provide hands-on training to a test and evaluation- (T&E) focused userbase on how to use cyber modeling tools so they can maintain the models that you create.
You will use our proprietary cyber mission planning toolset to:
Characterize weapon system networks and supporting architectures, including both OT and IT protocols
Create functional models
Characterize capabilities
Perform vulnerability analysis
As a cyber SME, you must have the technical background to:
Perform cyber risk assessment and threat analysis based on identified vulnerabilities, network configuration and threat actor research.
Build representative weapons system IT/OT models to support testing and experimentation.
Support the T&E community's experimentation, to include creating donors, scripting malware or threats, sensor programming, and analyzing experiment metrics.
This position will require the analysis of large amounts of structured and unstructured data to analyze and model target weapon system network architectures as well as survey adversary capabilities to generate effects against U.S. weapon systems. You must have the ability to identify hardware and software vulnerabilities through open-source research. You will propose, record, and implement new requirements, processes, procedures, and activities as directed to support related non-kinetic integration responsibilities for the impacted service-level and Joint communities.
Cyber and Electronic Attack Modeling SME Requirements:
Active Secret Security Clearance (with eligibility for TS/SCI with CI poly)
BS with 8-10 years of relevant work experience or MS with 6-8 years of relevant work experience
3+ years of experience in weapon system vulnerability assessment, specifically focusing on non-kinetic threats (Cyberspace and Electronic Attack operations)
Experience in the use of network modeling and simulation software such as the Microsoft Visio suite of tools or equivalent
Familiarity with DoD Modeling and Simulation tools applicable to the weapon system development lifecycle,
Experience or knowledge of researching, eliciting, defining, and refining modeling, visualization, and database requirements for vulnerability analysis systems
Cyber and Electronic Attack Modeling SME Preferences:
Signals Intelligence (SIGINT) experience preferred, additional intelligence discipline (e.g., GEOINT, MASINT, etc.) experience/training also desired
Programmatic experience with cyber effects operations capability development efforts
Familiarity with the SysML engineering modeling approach
Knowledge and experience with kinetic targeting capabilities (e.g., Joint Targeting Toolbox), methodologies (e.g., joint targeting cycle), and aids (e.g., Joint Munitions Effectiveness Manuals)
Familiarity with the Joint Operational Planning Process and the Joint Targeting Cycle
Software developer skills (particularly application programming interface efforts)
Certified Ethical Hacker qualification
