Summary This position is located at Departmental Offices, Terrorist and Financial Intelligence-Intelligence Analysis. As an Intelligence Operations Specialist, you will serve as a member of the Office of Counterintelligence (OCI), which provides counterintelligence (CI) expertise to assessments, operations, and investigations. OCI assessments involve research and evaluation of intelligence information to determine the operational capabilities and effectiveness of foreign intelligence entities (FIE). Responsibilities Pursuant to 50 USC 3024 (v), and with concurrence and consultation with the Director of National Intelligence and the Director of the Office of Personnel Management, this position is being established in the excepted service as an element of the Intelligence Community within the Department of the Treasury. The following are the duties of this position at the GS-12. If you are selected at a lower grade level, you will have the opportunity to learn to perform all these duties, and will receive training to help you grow in this position. As an Intelligence Operations Specialist, you will: Perform a broad range of analytical and short-suspense assignments involving CI-related activities across the Department. Provide assessments on the capabilities and activities of FIEs and potential threats to Treasury. Analyze and process foreign travel reports pertaining to Treasury personnel. Conduct CI collection activities via debriefings, liaison, open source and classified source research. Prepare Intelligence Information Reports (IIRs) and finished products. Requirements Conditions of Employment Key Requirements: Must be U.S. Citizen or U.S. National. A two-year trial period may be required. Must have, or be able to obtain and maintain, a Top Secret security clearance based on a Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI). SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: For the GS-09, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-07 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized Experience for this position includes ALL of the following: Reviewing and assessing information to determine relevance; AND Analyzing and detecting trends in data gathered from multiple sources; AND Conducting open and classified source research in support of national security or intelligence initiatives. OR EDUCATION: You may substitute education for specialized experience as follows: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree, if related; or LL.B. or J.D., if related; OR COMBINATION OF EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION: You may qualify on a combination of education and experience. To combine education and experience, the total percentage of experience at the required grade level compared to the requirement, as well as the percentage of completed education compared to the requirement must equal at least 100 percent. Only graduate level education in excess of the first 18 semester hours may be combined with experience. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: For the GS-07, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-05 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized Experience for this position includes ONE of the following: Reviewing and assessing information to determine relevance; OR Analyzing and detecting trends in data gathered from multiple sources.
