SENIOR RF ENGINEER (DETO-2024-20361):
Bowhead is seeking a Senior RF Engineer to support the High Power Microwave (HPM) Effects, Modeling and Simulation (M&S), and Cybersecurity Branch. The HPM Effects, M&S, and Cybersecurity Branch (E53) is the lead organization dedicated to HPM lethality, effects, and modeling and simulation.
Responsibilities
TheSenior RF Engineerserves as a scientist/engineer who is expected to develop HPM technology through experiment and a statistical analysis of target vulnerabilities. The candidate will lead HPM testing, experiment development, and data acquisition. The position will interface with technical personnel from various external groups and organizations to identify problems, suggest changes, and develop and document final solutions for HPM systems. The position will also be responsible for presenting at test reviews and technical briefs.
Duties include, but are not limited to the following:
Development of requirements, design, and execution of tests in support of HPM systems
Design, construction, test, and analysis of HPM components, test fixtures, systems, etc.
Provide subject matter expert (SME) technical support and advice to on-going projects
Support development of design of experiment and data analysis for various types of HPM testing
Develop test reviews, technical briefs, and progress updates for leadership
Qualifications
Qualifications and Competencies Required:
BS Degree in Engineering tehcnical field required. ABET Accredited preferred.
Ability to operate effectively while working independently and or with others in a very dynamic and fast paced environment with continuously evolving requirements and schedules
Ability to lead advanced technology development efforts in Electronics, Electromagnetics, or Directed Energy
Ability to integrate and coordinate technical efforts
Ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing to a variety of audiences
Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.
Demonstrated ability to perform analysis and problem solving techniques necessary to execute professional scientific/engineering work
Experience developing technical briefs
Qualifications and Competencies Desired:
Background or Experience in any or all of the following categories:
Electromagnetic (EM) Theory
Radio Frequency Design, or High power RF Design
RF Circuitry Design and Evaluation
Electromagnetic Interference (EMI) (Grounding, Shielding, etc.)
RF / HPM test Chamber and diagnostics (GTEM, Reverberation, Anechoic, etc)
Experience and understanding of HPM system design to include HPM components and system development (Vacuum Electronics, high power transmission lines, solid state switching, high power antennas, etc.)
Experience in Pulsed Power system design, development, test, and analysis
Experience in Radio Frequency data acquisition and analysis
Knowledge of statistical analysis techniques and methodologies is strongly desired
Experience with COMSOL, MATLAB, or Python for computational physics
SECURITY CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS: Must currently have a security clearance at the Secret level. US Citizenship is a requirement for Secret clearance at this location.

Must be able to stand and walk for prolonged amounts of time
Must be able to twist, bend and squat periodically
