Job Description
AECOM is currently seeking a Design Manager for a Federal Client in the DC Metro Area. The Design Manager will be responsible for developing and implementing strategies for delivering design phase services. This includes defining and reviewing design requirements, fee proposals, and design schedules. They will oversee design project managers, who will manage design phase services from pre-design (including site visits and data collection) through to the completion of design and hand-off to the on-site CM teams before construction begins. The Design Manager will also develop implementation strategies for the design approach, define design requirements, and assist in preparing baselines such as estimates, schedules, and scopes.
Key responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
Act as the primary point of contact for clients, contractors, and regulatory agencies
Facilitate regular meetings and communication to ensure alignment and address any design-related issues
Implement and oversee quality control processes to ensure design accuracy and compliance with industry standards and regulations
Conduct regular design reviews and audits to maintain high standards of quality
Identify potential design risks and develop mitigation strategies
Ensure that all design activities adhere to safety and environmental regulations
Allocate and manage resources effectively to meet project deadlines and budget constraints
Coordinate with internal teams and external consultants to optimize resource utilization
Continuously seek opportunities for process improvement and efficiency gains in design activities
Maintain comprehensive documentation of design processes, decisions, and changes
Prepare and present regular progress reports to senior management and stakeholders
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements
BA/BS + 6 years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
Preferred Requirements
PE, RA
10 + years of experience with Federal 1. Interpreting and ensuring the contractor's compliance with the Federal
Acquisition Regulations and the other Standards specified as a part of this BPA
In-depth knowledge of federal design and construction processes;
Identifying events/activities required to complete large, complex related
programs or major construction projects;
Developing and interpreting comprehensive program or project management plans and schedules;
Managing multiple inter-disciplinary personnel and their work;
Graduate of an Architectural or Engineering college curriculum (minimum four (4) year degree)
10+ years' experience serving in a similar capacity on two similar contracts or programs valued at not less than $5 million.

Offered compensation will be based on location and individual qualifications. The expected range is $145,000.00 - $166,400.00.
