Description
Senior IT Engineer working closely with Government Managers, and as part of Contract Infrastructure Team, to design, implement, O&M, of a standalone computing solution that requires integration of diverse and complex components. Must have outstanding communication skills and be familiar with Linux, windows, networking, containers (such as Kubernetes and docker). Technical project management/lead experience a plus. Mentor infrastructure team members. Work closely with infrastructure team lead, data scientists, and software developers to integrate activities and resources to ensure technical and schedule performance. Additionally work with external vendors for determining hardware and software solutions to meet government requirements.
Job responsibilities include:
performing design and implementation of a standalone computing solution
defining operational requirements including integration with other systems or components
researching and modeling the system architecture and configuration
investigating technical alternatives, cost analysis and estimation, and decision analysis
ensuring the logical and systematic conversion of requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule and cost constraints
providing specific, detailed information for selection, implementation techniques, and tools for the most efficient solutions to meet mission needs. This includes current and future capacity requirements, facility requirements (cooling, power, layout, network connectivity), data storage, backup, monitoring, operations systems, access management, and automation.
working on unusually complex technical problems and provide highly innovative solutions
exercise independent judgement in methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results
working with software developers, machine learning engineers, and multimedia specialists to understand user requirements
mentor other members of the Infrastructure Team
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
TS/SCI security clearance with a FSP polygraph.
Bachelor's degree (four years of relevant experience may substitute in lieu of a degree) and fifteen(15) years or more experience; Masters and thirteen (13) years or moreexperience; PhD or JD and (10) years or more experience.
Minimum of 10 years of experience providing infrastructure engineering in the IC
Proficient in Linux (Ubuntu) including deployment, scripting, configuration and integration with Windows systems
Understanding of TCP/IP networking concepts including basic configuration of network switches and firewall settings
Competent in container orchestration tools (e.g. Kubernetes) to automate the management, monitoring, scaling, and deployment of containerized applications (e.g. Docker)
Developing technical documentation using Visio

Experience supporting IC A&A processes and documentation
Willingness to work across multi-disciplinary team to support adhoc mission requirements
Experience leading technical teams
