Descriptive Summary:
The Bowen Group, a values-led, industry leader in telehealth, strategic communications, and wellness services and staffing is searching for a Military Retirement Benefits Subject Matter Expert to join our team supporting the Office of Financial Readiness. This is an on-call position. Employment status: 1099.
CORE FUNCTIONS:
Daily activities and tasks include:
- Serve as a subject matter expert (SME) of content created to support the client at the Department of Defense.
- Review content for a variety of products, including articles and blogs, ensuring the accuracy of all financial information.
- Review content for communication plans, campaigns and their tactics such as eLearnings, fliers, brochures, posters and articles to ensure the accuracy of information related to Retirement benefits as it relates to the military community.
- Work cooperatively with writers, editors, designers and project leads to complete projects on time.
- Leveraging the company's project management system to coordinate the execution of contract projects and deliverables using a cross-functional team approach.
Skills in:
- Strong writing, editing and proofreading skills
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office with an emphasis on Word, to include Adobe
- Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
Ability to:
- Manage client and team's expectations and project prioritization
- Communicate well with team members across projects
- Use Zoom or Teams to occasionally workshop with team members
Perform other duties as requested.
Education and Work Experience:
- Education: Bachelor's degree. Experience exceeding the minimum may be substituted for education. Likewise, education exceeding the minimum shown may be substituted for experience.
- Work Experience: 8-10 years of experience in providing independent services in specialized technical areas.
Industry Knowledge:*
- In-depth knowledge of retirement options for members of the military, including traditional military retirement system, the Thrift Savings Plan, and the Blended Retirement System.
- Must be up to date with any changes and updates to federal benefits programs, such as the Blended Retirement System, and be able to write about its components-including defined benefits, defined contributions, and continuation pay. In addition, should be able to speak about the legacy system.
- In depth knowledge of pension, Roth, IRA, 401(k), retirement IRS tax provisions and other government resources available
- Experience working within financial planning with the military community
- Experience in military quality of life programs strongly preferred
