Job Description:
Parsons is looking for an amazingly talented Principal Project Manager that provides direction and project management for median and large-size projects and programs and is responsible for planning, programing, coordination, scope management and overall implementation of the project to meet project goals and objectives. Plans and defines the projects and programs and devises methods to accomplish them, develops in-depth knowledge of client objectives, contract terms, and stakeholder requirements.
What You'll Be Doing:
- Act as Principal Project Manager for overall coordination and management of any assigned projects and programs, accountable for end to end delivery.
- Interface with Urban Planning, Engineering, Construction, Procurement, Environment, Safety, Finance & Budgeting, Planning and Performance, Network Operators, and all other stakeholders, to manage the projects and programs.
- Formally initiate projects, prepare project charters, project management plans (including all of its subcomponents), lead on the procurement, execution, monitoring and controlling of the project and close projects and programs as required.
- Manage Stakeholders,
- Participate in negotiations with regulatory agencies and public meetings in support of client.
- Oversee the establishment of all Project and Program Documents as required.
- Develop Project Governance Documents as required.
- Contribute towards the continuous improvement of the Project Management Department.
- Establishes the program implementation requirements, for all areas of the project, and monitors the draft and final deliverables for adherence to those criteria.
- Assign responsibility for executing project plans to key subordinates after careful assessment of how to utilize their qualifications and strengths.
- Assist with long term project planning.
- Conduct presentations to senior management as required, including escalation briefings.
- Provide input into performance reviews and development plans for subordinates.
- Make recommendations to create project teams capable of completing effective, quality work, Discusses the qualifications required of any key project positions in specific detail with the department managers, directors, and section managers.
- Work with other managers, project engineers, and discipline leads to develop budgets, schedules, and plans for the various elements of a project. Ensures that the project meets or exceeds goals established in these plans.
- Work with the key project individuals to devise and execute actions plans to rectify potential conflicts, coordination issues, delays, or to accommodate significant changes to the scope of work. Advise the client of any such changes.
- Promote technical and commercial excellence on the project through application of Quality Assurance processes.
- Monitor and report to management on the progress of all project activities within the program, including significant milestones, and any conditions, which would affect project cost or schedule.
- Establish and chair weekly meetings to review project status and progress action items.
- Prepare regular project status reports as required.
- Manage project change requests.
- Perform other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate.
What Required Skills You'll Bring:
- A Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Engineering, Science, Business or a related subject.
- A minimum of 10 years of experience working within the field of Project Management with at least 5 years managing the design and construction of major capital projects. Experience will cover engineering, budgeting, planning, procurement, contracting and scheduling activities.
- Experience of technical integration as well as procurement and construction activities.
- Ability to perform the major activities including Past performance and growth within technical, fiscal, and management responsibilities within the engineering or project management field.
- Superior initiative, judgement, and ability required to assume the total Leadership of a complete Largescale program and /or multiple concurrent projects.
- Recent experience at a Level commensurate with this classification.
- Personal characteristics which will enhance the client relationship While remaining an ambassador for the company.
- Professional Registration (PE or PMP) is a significant advantage.
