Duties Description The incumbent of this position will report to the Wellness Team within the Executive Policy Office. Duties include, but are limited to the following: - Numerous studies, including a First Responder Mental Health Needs Assessment championed by DHSES, have highlighted the significant health and wellness challenges facing the public safety community in New York State, including first responders. As such, DHSES recently named a Chief Wellness Officer to lead the agency's wellness program and promote evidence-based wellness practices for DHSES employees and the larger public safety community in New York State. The Homeland Security Program Analyst 1 will provide analytical, administrative, and operational support to the Chief Wellness Officer and the agency's wellness program. - Conduct research and analysis on health and wellness related issues, with a goal of helping the agency identify and advanced evidence-based wellness practices. Research will include developing surveys and other methods to capture and analyze data and information. - Participate in policy planning and development to identify long and short-term challenges; explore new solutions for issues that arise and identify best practices for the agency and its wellness program. - Facilitate the implementation and operation of ongoing and newly evolving DHSES wellness initiatives and assist in the coordination and operational support of targeted program activities. - Draft correspondence, policy, white papers, presentations, and other briefing materials. - Support the development of project plans, deliverables and analytical analysis for executive review. - Manage projects with moderate complexity and risk. Prepare project status reports and communicate progress with stakeholders. - Evaluate and comment on wellness related programs and studies conducted by other state and national governments and public/non-profit/private sector organizations. - Organize, coordinate and facilitate and/or lead meetings, work groups, and project teams. - Assist with the development and delivery of wellness-related trainings and workshops. - Help promote and publicize the overall and targeted wellness initiatives offered by the agency. - Act as a liaison with internal and external stakeholders, and work to help to identify and enhance strategic partnerships.
Minimum Qualifications NON-COMPETITIVE Six years of experience in intelligence analysis, homeland security, counter terrorism, emergency preparedness analysis and assessment, or investigations. Substitution: An associate degree may substitute for two years of experience; a bachelor's degree may substitute for four years of experience; a master's degree may substitute for five years of experience; and a doctorate may substitute for six years of experience.
Additional Comments NOTE: Support of operations during times of emergency and disaster from State Emergency Operations Center (EOC), state field offices and/or local deployments may be required, which would result in a change and/or increase in working hours, locations and/or duties.
