DESCRIPTION
Position Summary
The Retail Data & BI Analyst supports the development, architecture, and delivery of data analytics and reporting tools that support operations across a national retail program operating in more than 1,300 locations.
This role will play a key part in the organization's migration to Power BI, helping design scalable data models, build automated reporting pipelines, and develop dashboards that support leadership decision-making.
The position requires a strong analytical mindset, attention to detail, and the ability to transform complex operational data into clear and actionable insights for leadership teams.
This role sits at the intersection of data architecture, analytics, and business strategy, supporting initiatives related to compliance, performance analytics, fraud detection, and operational reporting.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Key Responsibilities
Data Architecture & Reporting Infrastructure
Assist in the development and maintenance of the organization's Power BI reporting environment
Build and maintain Power BI datasets, semantic models, and dashboards
Design scalable reporting structures that support leadership visibility across stores, territories, and regions
Help migrate existing reporting from legacy systems into Power BI
Ensure consistent data definitions and KPI calculations across dashboards
Data Integration & Data Quality
Extract, clean, and transform data from multiple systems (POS systems, operational platforms, reporting feeds)
Develop repeatable data validation and QA processes
Assist in building structured datasets to support business reporting
Identify and resolve inconsistencies across reporting sources
Analytics & Business Insights
Analyze operational performance across retail locations, including sales performance, compliance metrics, staffing coverage, and execution metrics
Identify trends, anomalies, and performance opportunities within large datasets
Support leadership requests for both recurring and ad-hoc analysis
Assist in the development of models used to estimate sales potential, operational opportunity, and program performance
Process Automation
Automate recurring reporting processes using Power BI, Excel, and SQL
Improve efficiency by reducing manual data manipulation and reporting
Develop repeatable templates and analytical frameworks used by leadership
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Work closely with leadership, operations teams, and analysts to understand reporting needs
Translate business questions into structured data analysis
Communicate findings clearly through dashboards, reports, and written summaries
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Qualifications
Education Bachelor's degree in:
Data Analytics
Business Analytics
Information Systems
Statistics
Or related analytical field
Equivalent experience may be considered.
Experience 1-3 years of experience in:
Data analysis
Business intelligence
Reporting or analytics roles
Technical Skills
Required:
Advanced Microsoft Excel
Experience working with large datasets
Data cleaning and transformation
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
SQL
Strongly Preferred:
Power BI (dashboard development, data modeling)
Experience working with relational datasets
Experience supporting operational or retail analytics
Nice to Have:
Exposure to Power BI data modeling
Understanding of data architecture concepts
Experience with automation or reporting pipelines

What Success Looks Like in This Role
Within the first 6-12 months this role will:
Help complete the organization's migration to Power BI
Build standardized dashboards used by leadership across the program
Improve data quality and reporting reliability
Automate several recurring reporting processes currently performed manually
Provide actionable insights that support operational performance and compliance initiatives
