POSITION PURPOSE:
Responsible for supporting North Wind Dynamics (NWD) safety professionals in various aspects of industrial safety and project management, including hazard identification, risk assessment, and mitigation strategies. Supports the Environment Safety & Health (ES&H) program by conducting required ES&H inspections and program audits. Demonstrate a personal commitment to safety and quality.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Conduct and document required ES&H inspections.
Provide support for industrial and construction safety for NWD activities.
Maintain technical knowledge of applicable safety and health codes, regulations, standards, and Department of Energy (DOE) directives.
Maintain and issue fall protection equipment.
Work with line managers and workers to determine controls for workplace hazards.
Maintain records in accordance with NWD records management policies.
Maintain a safe working environment and personal commitment to safety and quality in the performance of all duties.
Demonstrate awareness and implementation of applicable ES&H requirements while also alerting co-workers of such requirements, as needed.
Demonstrate ability to get along with co-workers, customers, and visitors.
Assist in the identification, planning, sharing, and documentation of ES&H hazards associated with NWD subcontractor/vendor work on-site.

Safety Responsibilities
Keep work area in order and free of hazards.
Perform work within the controls identified and stop work when an unsafe work condition exists.
Participate in safety programs and initiatives.
Reports all injuries.
*Participate in work planning so that hazards are identified and appropriate corrective actions are taken.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and Experience:
Associate Degree
On the job experience demonstrating application of occupational/industrial safety principles
Skills and Abilities:
Language Skills
Ability to read and interpret standards, regulations, technical references, etc.
Ability to write routine and non-routine reports and correspondence.
Communication Skills
*Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees.
Reasoning Ability
*Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
Other Skills/Abilities
Ability to operate a calculator, telephone, office copier, fax and computer is required.
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, area, circumference and volume.
Ability to apply basic concepts of algebra, geometry, and other mathematical principles.
Must have basic proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel.
Special Requirements:
*Must be able to obtain and maintain a DOE "L" clearance.
