Environmental Engineer - San Jose, CA
Salary: $115,000 - $150,000 per year

Role Overview
Develop, implement, and manage environmental programs to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. Oversee environmental initiatives and process improvements while supporting manufacturing operations.
Key Responsibilities
Environmental Compliance & Management:
Develop and maintain environmental management policies and procedures (ISO 14001)
Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, state, and local regulations
Serve as the primary contact for environmental agencies
Monitor, track, and report environmental data
Oversee environmental permitting (stormwater, air quality, hazardous waste)
Conduct training for employees on environmental compliance
Manufacturing & Process Improvement:
Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and reduce waste
Utilize Lean principles, Kaizen, and 5S methodologies
Manage capital projects and facility modifications
Collaborate with Quality, Manufacturing, and Engineering teams
Ensure compliance with ISO 14001 and other quality standards
Qualifications
Education: Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering
Experience: 5+ years in environmental roles within manufacturing or industrial environments
Certifications: Ability to obtain RCRA Hazardous Wastes MGMT, Texas Hazardous Industrial Waste MGMT, Hazmat Ground Shipper, and HAZWOPER (Incident Commander Level V)
Skills: Knowledge of federal and state environmental regulations (OSHA, EPA, RCRA, SARA, DOT HAZMAT), proficiency in MS Office and CAD software (AutoCAD), excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, strong interpersonal and communication skills, experience with Lean manufacturing and process optimization
Work Environment & Physical Demands
Work in both office and manufacturing environments
Exposure to moving mechanical parts, airborne particles, and industrial chemicals
Ability to stand, walk, kneel, and lift/move up to 50 pounds
Personal protective equipment (PPE) may be required
