Staff System Engineer - Propulsion Systems

Onsite - Niagara Falls, NY Moog Space and Defense Group is projecting significant growth driven by high levels of U.S. Department of Defense spending and the thirst for human exploration.The Niagara Falls Site supplies rocket engines, propulsion systems, and propellant tanks for a variety of spacecraft, launch vehicle and strategic defense missions.
We are looking for an experienced propulsion systems engineer to add to our growing team and help us lead the way in new propulsion system design. Primary applications are bipropellant and monopropellant (chemical) propulsion systems for strategic missiles, LEO, GEO and exploration missions, with a particular focus on new product design for higher rate production applications to meet ever increasing market demands. The position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. DoD Security Clearance and access to U.S. export-controlled information.
To be considered for this position, here's what you'll need to bring with you: Staff Level: Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering with 12 years of proven industry experience in-space propulsion system design experience; MS or PhD preferred (candidates with less than 10 years' experience will be considered based on content of past design and development experience specific to rocket engines).
At least 12 years of progressive experience, with 5 years of leading or supporting development projects.
Experience interfacing with customers and demonstrated strong verbal and written communication skills.
Demonstrated leadership skills and the ability to mentor and coach other engineers.
Can understand new technical concepts and products. Utilize these skills to understand risks and take appropriate action.
Experience designing propulsion systems for large scale, large volume production with a design for manufacturing (DFM) mindset is a big plus.
As a Propulsion Systems Engineer, you will: Lead the overall propulsion design and development necessary to support customer missions, starting from initial conceptual design from high-level customer requirements with a blank sheet of paper, all the way through development, qualification, production, and in some cases, large-scale industrialization for high-rate production.
Lead and/or oversee the detailed systems and fluidic analyses for generating initial conceptual designs, selecting and baselining proper components, and working with Moog's internal and external supply bases to marry component capabilities to distilled-down system level requirements.
Oversee and drive overall detailed design and verification plans for propulsion systems, planning or overseeing the planning of all component, subsystem, and propulsion system level design activity, build process, and test campaigns necessary to demonstrate compliance and deliver a high-quality product to customer requirements.
Mentor and coach other engineers in propulsion systems design.
